Last night the girlfriend and I had some coffin dodging biddy in her shitty old Micra plough straight into the side of her new car, pretty much writing it off. At first, seemed like a standard roundabout accident, thinking my missus had gone without looking and she had hit the side. However going over it in my mind later, I realised that the oldie made aboslutely no attempt to stop what so ever. My missus had checked the way was clear on a mini roundabout with tree lined roads, seen nothing to the right so proceeded to pull out. Once on the roundabout, this Micra comes flying into view, my missus slams on the brakes and stops, I look at the Micras position and thought 'thats ok, plenty of room to stop there'. Expected nothing more than a few fists waved, horns honked and confidence broken (she only passed her test a few weeks ago :().

However. Given the amount of space she had to stop, she did not. She did not make the slightest attempt, she struck the side of our car, pushed it out of the way WHEELSPINNING up the wing as we are spun off the roundabout and up the kerb and carried on down the road about another 30ft!

It is without a doubt the most ridiculous piece of driving I have ever witnessed! She had no idea what had happened whe I went to speak to her either, I had to resist shouting at her for her blatent incompitence!

Missus car is ruined, smashed the front wing, wheel suspension and bumper to bits!

I am going to push for prosecution for careless driving I think, time she had her license removed by force. :angry2:

so what she was old man have some respect like seriously.givin the fact she was old bad reaction etc you have to accomadate for people like this on the roads there just trying to get from a to b like anyone els.prosecution cop on shel be dead in a few years no point making things worse for the old woman..bad luck with the damaged car cud been worse

Another reason why i am beginning to think that at a certain age you should carry out a mandatory competance test to ensure you are still fit to drive at a certain standard on the roads.

Sorry to hear that mate, seems a pretty bad one. If i'm honest you have to feel sorry for the old lady as she is obviously getting to to make good judgements on the road but at the end of the day she shouldn't be on the road if she was still accelerating after the impact.

I don't think there should be a law that old people get there licence taken away at a certain age but a law that makes them take a test to see if there are still fit to drive and make proper judgements. As not all old people are bad drivers!

Hope your girlfriend recovers ok and you manage to get the car sorted mate.

Claim on the old biddies insurance for injury. Say you suffered Cool-Whip-lash. Run the old moo dry of her pention.
Naw seiously. This sucks, hope you're alright, got any pics of damage?

Hope things in favour for you....

But the elderly have slowwwwwwwwww reactions so be extraaaaaa aware ;)

There were no injuries and we're not going to take the piss with bullshit whiplash claims as I wouldn't want someone pulling that kind of stunt on me.

However, if the police are investigating a DWDC charge then it helps along our insurance claim who will be unsure as to who was a fault because of the nature of the crash.

You say aww let her off, she's old all that, well no sorry, I won't. With driving like that she shouldn't be on the road full stop, age doesn't come into it. If that had been a young person driving I would have had the police on the scene immidiately because it seemed like drink driving.

Yup who cares if shes old, all the more reason. Id have been ****ing furious is some old skank plowed into my motor, Id prob have gave her a heart atttack with shouting at her.

License retest at 60 and every 5 years after that FTW.

According to advice from elsewhere, doesn't matter if Doris was pissed, blind, having a heart attack or anything else, she had right of way and as such it's entirely my missus' fault.

Of course, had that been someone in control of their bowels, they might have actually stopped and no cars would have been written off, but thats besides the point.

So, if anyone ever pulls out on you at a roundabout, ****ing go for it. Smash the absolute **** of their car, because it won't matter what you do, they are at fault.

The law is a bitch sometimes.

Yep, can 110% agree with you there, same thing happened to me when I was backing out of a parking space, had a huge black Range Rover next to me.

Backed out less than a foot from a bay so I could just see around the Range Rover, to see if it was clear, hesitated for 10 seconds (car still less than a foot out) Someone wasnt paying attention (also on the phone) decided to then drive into the back of me.

I got full blame. ****ed my NCB.

The Law = BS
