Okay so it's a pretty long story, but basically trailered my kswap integra 3hours too have a custom exhaust made for it. The exhaust dose not fit the car, I now need it sorted but the garage won't do anything about it.

It was booked in 2 weeks prior too the date the work was set to be carried out. The agreement was it would take 4hours to have a manifold back system made in 3inch and would cost £400.

Sorted, so April the 5th came, me and my dad had the car on the trailer, left at 5.30am to get up too Paignton by 9am as requested by the garage.

Get there to find they guys haven't arrived yet.. So we wait about, get the car off the trailer and they show up at around 9.30, had a chat and left them to it, the car to be finished and collected at about 2ish that afternoon.

So after me and my dad wandering around Exeter and surrounding areas I decided to give them a call at 1pm see how it was going and if we could head back as we were just killing time really. Got the news on the phone that some of the flanges hadn't turned up so they can't finish it. (The job was booked in 2 weeks prior and they knew exactly what the job was)
So we head back to the garage to discuss the situation, a little pissed off as I expected to be taking my car home that day with it's exhaust so I can carry on building it we had to come to the agreement that they would deliver the car back to me the following Friday. (11/05/2014) Not great, but it'll have to do!

So the Friday comes, I couldn't be there to open the unit up so asked my father to go open it up for them to deliver the car back, they returned it with the rear bumper off saying that it would need a slight trim, now 'custom too the car' means to me that is it impossible not too fit as it is custom?! It is made for that car..

Now I go to put the bumper back on and it dose not fit at all, I have cut the bumper slightly, got it too fit back on but am left with this..

As you can see, it's not long enough, sits too high and is not quite straight and also what I had to cut from my rear bumper just too get the bumper on properly.

After this I phoned the company to try and speak to the boss, who is not answering my calls, so speak through one of his co-workers to him over the phone, after a long conversation about how it dose not fit but basically it's not there problem they agreed for me to go to a exhaust shop local to me once it's on the road, have it altered, 'aslong as it dose not cost them too much'.

So about 3 weeks have passed and yesterday I finally had the car MOT'd and taxed got it on the road, had it booked in at Longlife Swansea and took it straight there to see what they could do about it. I had a phone call asking me to go up and take a look and have them explain what a mess they had made of it. Now Longlife are not willing too try and sort there mess out as too try and sort one section out it's going too make another section need work and just going too be a ballache really. Here are some pics I took at longlife yesterday while on the ramp.

It's not really that clear in the pictures I got at longlife but the backbox is angled inwards to the car, it sits too high and is also too short so dose not clear the rear bumper.

So now I'm trying to get hold of the boss of the garage but can't, just like when I found out my bumper dose not fit, never at the garage and never answers his mobile. Phoned his mobile this morning, line was busy so kept ringing until he was off the phone, got through so it was ringing, did not pick up, ring straight again, phone is off. The bill they agreed to cover is not as little as they said they would cover, I'm left with an exhaust that dose not fit and can't afford to shell out more money for another one or see why I should.

Sorry for the long thread but someone on here may of had trouble like this with car garages in the past so would be good if I could get some info on what they done to get it resolved. I know it was a long way to travel to have an exhaust made but the company said they have done a kswap 3' exhaust before for another customer, and also are building there own kswap dc2 in house which led me to believe, surely they could do a tidy job of this since there making the same car themselves?!

Thats a disgrace pal... I would take the car or photos up to the workshop and speak to the boss and demand money back

Thats a horror job and seems more rushed than anything

Bunch of cowboys!!

The boss knows fully that it dosent fit, sent him photos. Tried to talk to him but he won't answer the phone to me. Got through to a guy who works for him and had to sort out the agreement to have it fixed elsewhere through him not straight with the boss!

Now trying to get hold of the boss to sort out what is happening about getting it fixed.. Can't get hold of him at all, people at the garage 'don't know' where he is either..

Name & shame the garage anywhere & everywhere sorry to hear this happened to you

Stevie... I would go up personally and just see what happens, nothing to lose plenty to gain!!

I wouldn't go back to have it done id take a hit to the wallet and go else where because they will probably charge you to fix it again?

Unbelievable service on their behalf

"Your rights if an item is faulty
In the first six months from when you buy something, the onus is on the seller to prove it was of satisfactory quality when you received it.
If the seller simply says the problem must be due to something you've done, it's for them to prove that.
If something is not of satisfactory quality, you have a statutory right under the Sale of Goods Act, to a refund, have it replaced or repaired for free.
You can ask the retailer to do either, but it can normally choose to do whichever would be cheapest.
If the retailer refuses to repair the faulty goods, you may have the right to arrange for someone else to repair them and claim compensation from the retailer for the cost of doing this.
If the retailer refuses to provide any remedy, such as replacing the item, you can either have your money back minus an amount for the use you've had of it, or keep the item and get a reduction on the price you paid.
If you're having problems and the shop won't repair or replace or replace your goods then it should be reported to your local Trading Standards department as they are breaching your statutory rights.
It's worth telling the shop that you're going to do this as this could mean your complaint is then dealt with.
If the retailer fobs you off, or blames the manufacturer, think about using your guarantee or warranty."

go in unanounced and break the exhaust off his face untill he gives you your money back thats what id be doin :-D

Thank you ijwhiteman for that!

The only problem with going up there is it's a 3hour drive, one way.
When I last spoke to them and had to fight to get the agreement that I would take it elsewhere and they would pay if the price was right, (there words) there was no care for customer satisfaction.

I'll keep ringing and ringing today now to try and get through

Send them an afew letters telling them you'll take them to court if a refund is not received,
If they don't reply then draft up a letter that can be found on citizens advice website,
If still no reply then start the process of taking them to court, soon as they received the first letter with a courts heading on it they pay up.
Had the Same with a breaker in here, Exept he was a big boy on the phone.

That is one of the worst jobs ave seen in my life :nono:

Bunch of cowboys :((

What a joke! Is the exhaust bent or is it made up with bends and 45's? If it's bent it looks like they didn't. Bend it enough over arm and either didn't want to bend another or didn't have the pipe to do it again. Tbh that's the job an apprentice could turn out. But as said above don't let them away with it report them to.trading standards and take them to court. I have a similar problem with my k swap 3" exhaust the hks tip isn't long enough but that's minor compared to yours.

I've made better fitting exhausts than that with an arc welder and no pipe bender.
That's disgusting, I'd definitely mention trading standards to them, and if they still don't make an effort to get it sorted, I'd take them to court.
No way would I be letting them off with that amount of money....might not be a lot to some people on here, but £400 is a lot of money to me, as I'm sure it is to you also.

Well I finally spoke to the boss,

After being called a little ****, being told the exhaust matches the quality of the rest of my build and laughed at when I said £400 is alot of money. (it is when iv paid for something that is no good really)

I got given two options, drive the car 170 miles back to the garage, leave it there for 2-3 days and have them fix it, covering my own petrol costs, or send the system back, on return to them have a 50% refund..

Just go through trading standards I'd say.

Would not leave the car there after their attitude etc...

Yep trading standards buddy.

And let this guy no your doing that too! May rethink his offer....

i wouldnt let them near the car they will probably drive the bag out of it or scratch it

Nah, he's gone too far now....laughing at your build and being a cocky ****......just take his jaw off his face

I'd stop communicating with him over the phone, or at least record the calls - I had to do it once - you just need to tell him at the start of the call that you are doing so and that you reserve the right to use the recording in the court. If he hangs up (which he might well do...) stick to letters, always use recorded delivery or a courier. Just politely state what the problem is, and perhaps suggest some solutions and what your next move is going to be in case he fails to respond. Also, give him a reasonable time to respond, but tell him that if you haven't heard by a certain date you will be taking matters further. Trading standards are definitely a good start if it comes to that!

What company is this, sound like a bunch of monkeys.

Trading Standards mate, Money Claim On Line you can represent yourself. Nice and easy.
