Engine Knocking/Help! B16B engine.

The problem isn't in the head, it's the bottom end of the engine

Did you inspect the oil and oil filter for any metal when you changed them ?

With engine running you should of pulled spark plug leads one by one to see what con rod it is ,the knocking will go away when you pull off the right plug lead ,just to give you a idea of what to look at when you pull sump off ,

I'm not sure it will, you'll still have the power stroke from the cylinder before that pushing the piston up and down. Plus the compression is still there.

Just take the engine out, bottom ends knackered and all this is just wasting your time

Seen it done ,but different car ,same problem,
Your right in what you said engine need to come out ASAP !

Interesting....
Either way knowing which cylinder it is doesn't help him.

Wasn't expecting that lol
You need to open the engine up. See if you've damaged a piston when you bent the valves or damaged the head aswell.

I'd say there is more damage in there then just valves ,
You will never know on till you take head off and inspect.
As for how much you will never know on till you take a
Better look inside the head/block .

Your mechanic will have far better idea how much it will be to fix it than any of us - he's seen it and it's his job! If both head and block sustained damage I'd say find a new engine.

Found shavings in the oil the other day. The cost of fixing the engine would be at least $1,000 the mechanic says. Don't have the money right now. Guessing I'm kinda screwed right now lol.

Shavings in the oil would suggest bottom end more than a bent valve.
Video does sound bottom end...
Your going I have to take the sump off and let me know lol

Okay so it is the bottom end. What would be the parts to rebuild the bottom end? Money doesn't matter to me as much because I have time. Anything I should get to fix it?

Are you in the USA?

If you are send it to a specialist, tolerances are a fucker on these engines IMO. Get someone to build it right.

That's not a simple question really, you may have damaged other parts when the bearing span.

I knew it was bottom end! Any pictures of the damage?

I'll try getting pictures asap. We would probably pull the engine and put a new one in so the car can run. Once the engine will be fixed, we will swap it again.

Thread is dead but I have something to say. After all this time the car is just sitting there, waiting to be driven again. I contacted one of my buddies and he says its the head that is knocking. We pulled each spark plug to check which cylinder is the one with the thrown rod but none of them didn't show which one it is.

Pull the sump off and pull all the bearings out and inspect them. It's no good all this guessing. The only way you will know for sure is by stripping it down.
