Will be looking to buy an ek9 rolling shell in the near future for a k20 turbo build. Iv wanted to do one for a while now so here goes. Shell must be as whole as possible, full interior is a must, basically looking for a whole car minus engine and box. Uprated parts would be a bonus. Must be mint! Dont want any rough shells. Miles dont matter though aslong as its clean underneath and on top. Pm me if you have anything!

Best of stating what your budget is, a complete shell without engine an box won't be cheap at all

I know that mate. My budget can be whatever it needs to be for the right shell. I dont want a raft so i understand it will be more pricey. Thanks for your input though.

I understand if you've got your heart set on an EK9 shell but why not just an import EK? That's if it's just a clean shell you're after.

Seam welded chassis in the ek9 is the biggest selling point for me mate. Stiffness is key when your gonna be putting 500+ brake through a small car like that. Plus if i ever come to sell in the future, its a more sound investment.

Fair enough mate. Good luck in your search. Looking forward to seeing the project started!

Seam welded chassis is a bit of a myth, there's a few bits but it's not like the whole shell is seam welded! Rear subframe is different and a lot stronger on EK9 vs other EKs. I agree that EK9 will always hold its value better!

I'd get a clean shell and weld it yourself if your putting that kind of power through it

I have looked hard for a difference in the seams at the back of an ek9 vs 4 from the top. Basically I would have considered replicating it. Nothing I could find. Perhaps its underneeth. A rally style rollcage would be the best for absolute stiffness!

If money not an issue why not buy the ek9 shell you want but as in a complete car and sell the engine and box? I think you will wait a long time for a mint complete ek9 with no engine/box. Personally I don't think I've seen that. A shell is usually exactly that with all the valuable bits sold off, if you want it complete imo just buy the whole car and sell what you don't want/need. Tbh I think you would save some money that way. Good luck tho bud

No need. Dont have the time to strip a car back to a bare shell to weld all the seams. Plus many others have managed to put that power through an ek9 with no issues. A cage will be going in anyway, albeit one that i can keep the rear seats in with if there is such a thing for these cars

I have seen a few, even if its just rolling with a full interior. Suspension and brakes arnt important as they will be getting changed anyway. Im open to any shell, though i just put in the add what my ideal shell would be. Its going to be far from stock so parts on the car isnt too big of an issue

I know what your saying bud. I just think you will find it easier to find a complete car.

Well im in no rush mate. I can happily wait for the right one to come along. I dont see the point in me paying 5-6k for a car that i will be replacing all the parts on anyway.

Yeah but say you pay 5 grand, sell off everything you replace you will ultimately get the shell and everything you need for the same price as you would get just the shell for. I paid 4300 for my 9. Mega clean, 150k km and loads of history and receipts etc. This was a bargain and it was lucky but If I had sold off all the stuff I had taken off it to do my 500hp build the car itself would owe me about 2800 ish, probably less. All i'm saying mate is I think it would be easier finding a bargain complete car than a shell with the minimum spec you listed.

Decent ek9's are fetching 6-7k or even more now, for example even if you take 2k off the price for the running gear, your still looking at around 5k for the whole thing rolling complete ready for another conversion to go in

Yeah a decent low miles car with few owners and strong engine maybe fetching 7k, but ur average ek9 is around 5k. Minus engine and box - £3k.

Mileage on the shell doesnt concern me. Either does the condition of the actual parts on the car. Aslong as the shell is clean with no rust is all im worried about. As everything will be replaced anyway. The only reason i want i rolling is so its easier for me to collect.

I appreciate everyones input, but seem to have had all these comments telling me whats what when i have already researched it for myself.

Please only post if you actually have a shell for sale.

Thanks

The lads have done what you've researched , and I think it will be a hard call to find shell , robthedoc advice is sound ,all the best in your search and hope you find one soon .

I appreciate the help from all mate. Dont want to sound ungreatful, however this is a wanted add. To which iv only had people offering me advice instead of a shell. To make it easier, if anyone has a shell no matter what the spec or cost PM me and we can go from there

I'll be tempted to break my ek9 if the offersituation right. She'll is mint no rust and just been full undersealed.
