EK9 Racecar

So this weekend has been busy again!
I set up my suspension and did a Geo setup at work.

The new coilovers have transformed the car, steering is nicer and it just feels planted. I have a lot more confidence in the car now. Next weekend I'll know for sure!

I stopped by my dads to show him the new setup, he love's it!

Today was spent sorting out a TPS fault that I believe is now fixed (I hope).
Fitted another TPS sensor, and fitted new pins to the TPS plug, as my signal wire to the ecu was loose in the plug.
Thanks to @pdapaul for supplying the new pins :))

I then recalibrated the TPS on the s300 and tried again, I did have the fault again only once this time.
After some data logging and custom trickery from @jesse888 I went for a drive again and no fault so far!
A big thank you to my friend @jesse888, he has put a lot of time into my car and it really shows! If you need your car tuning ask Jesse, you won't be disappointed.

Tidied up a few little niggles too today, and all that's left to do is to fit the brake cooling ducts in the week :nice:

And of course this sticker I can now wear with pride!

This thing gets more and more epic with each update! Super chuffed to be a part of it!

Well the car only survived it's first test at Castle Combe on Saturday :))
IMG_2936.JPG

I ran at 0.5bar and the engine was spot on, ran really well. I still have a TPS fault though, so I was having to drive around it so some more fault finding to do.
To manage it I was having to use 3/4 throttle and 1/4throttle coming out of corners which was a pain but the car was still fast in the dry, was hitting 130mph reaching Avon rise when it was dry.
Oil wise the temperature rose to 100degrees and the pressure dropped to about 65psi, so with that I'm going to try some 10w60 next as I'd like a bit more pressure so hope that will help.

I was unable to fit my brake cooling ducts due to having the wrong cooling plates hence the duct tape!

The yellowspeed coilovers felt very nice, and the grip I had in the corners was very good.
It then rained after lunch so got to drive the car in the rain which was fun

All in all first shakedown couldn't of gone much better, got a few improvements that I want to do with aero before next time and obviously need to sort the TPS once and for all.

I only got a small video of my last session. In a bit of a newb with my go pro and it turns out I wasn't filming when I thought I was!
Need some more practice with that!

It's a bit of a boring video, you'll see the cuts I was having to deal with.

Glad the track session went well apart from the TPS issue.

What brake ducts are you using?

Yeh I'm happy with how it went, I'm using BYC brake ducts, with some different ally intakes that I got today. Fitting them tomorrow.

Did a bit of work yesterday, another oil and filter change but using 10w60 this time.

also fitted the brake cooling kit.

And I also cut the front bumper as it was covering 1/3rd of the intercooler.

Also after Combe I had a knocking noise from the rear. An exhaust hanger had fallen off. So welded it back on

Also in the quest to fix the TPS I routed another signal wire to rule that out.
It's still the same :angry2: It could be the wiring harness for the ecu, seems most likely.
Any suggestions much appreciated

Can you elaborate on what the issue is you are having with TPS?

The tps signal will drop off sharply from 100% down to 75-80%, when on full throttle is the only time ive noticed but part throttle logs can be hard to judge. It goes very lean when this happens, I had a log that showed it hitting 13.5-1 on boost as the tps signal drops, weve set up lean protection in s300 so that hes aware of the tps issue, obviously the engine knocks when this happens so cutting the boost is saving the engine at this point.

Ive not played with the throttle tip in settings in s300(the advanced ones not the overal trim). Is it possible to bypass this problem using those adjustments or is that going to cause more problems than it solves?

I had the exact same issue and it turned out to be the conversion harness for the ecu causing the voltage drop.

Apart from fixing tps signal, Sounds like part throttle fueling needs adjusting 80% throttle should be close if not the same as Wot.

Apart from tip in adjustments there isnt any throttle dependant adjustments to be made to the fueling as far as im aware. The fuel tables are all using the MAP sensor for load.
We had the car at all types of throttle positions whilst we where tuning the lighter load areas of the map.

Im wondering if the tip in adjustments also remove fuel when the throttle is quickly shut, just like they add fuel when its quickly opened...

When you fitted the TPS sensor, did you set the voltage correctly?
IIRC when I swapped mine there had to be a certain voltage at closed and WOT

Yes fuel and ignition map is load based what I meant by part throttle fueling is watch the map trace to find lean areas. What rpm is it happening at? what rpm is vtec?

The map trace stays exactly the same(because the throttle is still wide open) it holds perfect along with the rpm and all other signal traces, nothing changes at all just the tps signal drops off and lean spikes the afr. The ecu must be reacting to the sharp decline in tps signal thinking the throttle is about to close.
I wonder if there is a tip out trim in the stock ecu that we dont have access too in s300.

I do think its the conversion harness causing the problem and it was the first thing i told sam to try so fingers crossed it will be that.

Was that not a brand new exhaust dude? Hangers should not be falling off at any point let alone a few months later! Also the flanges look like they are starting rust! Do you know what material they used?

Ive no idea which harness it is tbh doesnt look like the heap ebay ones but i do remember seeing the wiring coming straight out the ecu case and going 180 degrees back on itself.
