EK9 Racecar

Looking good mate, bet you cant wait to drive it! :)
Have you got a finish date in mind?
Who are you going to use for tuning?
Why did you have to cut the lower bumper grille out? by looking at the pictures your cooler is in the same location as our's and the last 2 turbo EK/EJ's and looks to be similar in size and we have lots of clearance between cooler and bumper.
Thanks man! Cannot wait to drive it! I don't have a finish date in mind really, but end of October would be nice.
Probably Romain, he tuned it last time.
I had to cut it so It will go over the intercooler, there was no way it was going to fit without cutting it, the intercooler I've got is quite thick.... Maybe that's why? Cause it can't be mounted any further backwards.

Good progress as always!

Got the car out the garage today :))
Routed the wiring for the AFR and boost gauge.

Added a water temp gauge.

Fitted the uprated fuel pump, nice easy job! I'm relocating the battery to spare wheel well.

When the tig comes I'm going to make a nice aluminium battery box, then I'll uprate the fuel pump wiring.

I also put the bonnet back on and test fitted the front bumper.
Need to cut the lower black grille out! No surprise there!

Next job is to get the battery wiring done so I can get some life in the car.
Have you considered one of these batteries and cages? So much lighter, and look neat

Thanks! :))
Oooo yes that does look nice,
Think I'll get that! A lot smaller.
I think that's the one I have, and think @jesse888 has the same, it was able to crank the car over for ages with out a problem (I had Htleads mixed up and it wouldn't start)

Yep I have the same battery as above. Have done a good 2 years now and it's never missed a beat.

Nice little job for a Sunday, fitting aero catches, mocked up lots of places to put them :blinx:

Then decided on this

Here's some pictures of me fitting them, a couple taken by my lovely wife! I forgot to bring my safety glasses home so I was made to wear these! Lol

Welder hopefully will arrive end of next week....

Cars looking awesome man, cant wait to see it finished and out! :nice:

I got an new battery, thanks to @b16 mini for the link.
New battery cable, self adhesive aluminium cable clips and some terminal covers.

Will be able to get some life into the car soon! Welder is being delivered today
Will update with pics of that later.

Here she is!

Trolley is a £30 eBay special, really good quality for the price. Can't complain.
Gas flow meter is a Parweld, so I can get the sheilding gas flow just right.

Snap-on 200amp ac/dc tig

I'm waiting for my foot pedal to arrive still, and the wrong welding helmet arrived! But get to keep the incorrect one till mine arrives.

So happy with it, looking forward to the future. Going to make lots of parts for the 9 and planning to do private work when I'm half decent.

Give me a shout if you need something welding :nice:

First little practice at lunch.

It'll take time and lots and lots of practice!

Also did the cambelt and waterpump on my van this evening in prep for the ring trip:nice:
The crank timing was out! And was last done at a main dealer....
Waterpump now doesn't make a squeak under load. Jobs a good'n!

Roll on the 30th

I prefer using the high frequency start on a button on the torch, much much easier on thin stuff.

Looks a good bit of kit though mate.

Keep meaning to get myself a new welder.
This scratch start tig then?

Thanks man I'm really happy with it. I'm new to Tig so I'm learning everyday. Was having trouble with my borrowed helmet today! Kept going light mid weld burning my eyes! :nono: Think the battery's are flat.
Loving it though.

Do it, you won't regret it. It's not a scratch start, you can start the arc without touching the material. Not sure what you call mine as I'm a newb mate! I know that scratch start isn't ideal for certain materials due to contaminating the tungsten.
Welded some stainless today :nice:
