Was searching through one of the Japanese mags i have at home and found an article on the various proto types they designed whilst making the Ek9.
Guess they did make a 4 stud EK9 after all.

I sometimes wish it was 4x100! Would make getting good wheels easier! haha

there were some 4 stud ek9, other thread about it had me laughing with lot of mis information

not sure on reasoning behind it with honda but imagine being prototypes it may have been case of what was already in parts bin

finished 9 ended up with 5 stud for very functional/technical reason

look at the aero differences on some of the pics, clear honda acknowledged problem areas of ek but didnt utilse some bits in the end, id guess business/sales decision

also note that some aftermarket companies who actually test their aero products sold them for functional reasons as well as similar theories to prototype pics

hmm. still dont think they would release a 4 stud version, as they never made ek9 wheels in 4 stud either so they wouldnt just come out the factory with aftermarket wheels, and they wouldnt sell a prototype in a dealers.

cool magazine though!

x2, prototype is a non production model, all ek9's had to have been 5 stud.

They did indeed release a few EK9's with 4 stud there was a copy of an email from Honda UK confirming this to be the case to an owner here in the UK.

I did take a copy of the email at the time, it was from Honda japan to Honda UK who confirmed the existence of them. IIRC they were the race base models on steel wheels etc. There were about 40 of them released. The owner then took the car off the market as Honda confirmed the rarity of the car the owner thought it might be quite valuable and was going to store it. I think they rushed them out the door for homologation purposes..

It was a couple of years back and have had a few Computers since then but will have a dig around.
