Hi, just looking for any recommendations from any insurers, i know prices vary on where u live and work etc but im 19 from scotland, not got any no claims yet but been driving for over a year and a half. Im not the prime example of what insurers are looking for i know haha, im getting quoted about £2600 3rd party at best (from admiral, but have to pay in one go) ha, i am aware that ill probably b checking in the cracks of my sofa for any sort of money but just wandering if anyone has been quoted lower in similar circumstances? Because i need an ek9, whoring myself out may be on the cards hahaha.
Anyways Thanks

How you doing mate i think everyone on here knows all to well about the burden that an imported car carries to insure, i got quoted £1500 with a £250 excess and that was fully comp, if it was me id never insure a high performance car third party fire and theft thats a risk not worth taking.
If you want it to go down id get another car first of all and get myself a years no claims and plus you will appreciate the Ek9 more when you have had a few cars to compare it 2 (Thats assuming that your not driving an R34 or Supra at the moment lol)

Really though £2600 for third party??? Avoid it like the plague!

mate, to be honest, if you want this car so bad then take the hit, im paying 1800 im 19, from glasgow, 1ncb, 1800 is alot but i dont care i want this car, mind you thats for fully comp.

3rd party? no chance, these cars are easy to steal, 3rd party and you arent even covered.

I know someone who is paying 3500 on his scooby, but he says its worth it.

£3500? Worth it? Well i suppose everyones priorities are different at the end of the day!

No danger!

Haha, an r34, i wish. Im bangin about in my first car still, 50 bhp of saxo madness hahaha! So thats how im after an ek9 so bad, just to go right to the other end of the spectrum, sick of having to take the back routes to go anywhere! 1800 for 1 year ncb isnt bad atall tho id say especially comprehensive. Im just goin to have to bite the bullet nd stick to my guns and buy one, it has to be done, what else could i buy that is as smart and non chavy, i like golfs but they reach 60 in a couple of days about as bad as my car just now ha. But theres a class about a civic, nobody can really take a dig at it atall! Ran into another problem tho, after spending all day filling out forms and come to the bit about the car description and it doesnt ask if its an import, i presume this means they dont do imports? For example on confused.com it asks you if its a japanese import and ill get the post office as my lowest quote after filling out the rest of the details but on the post office website it doesnt say that they do imports or anything. Totally confused/frustrated! Cheers lads

i had a peugeot 206 for my first car, quite liked but wanted something diff. i bought a starlet gt turbo (cheap as chips to insure) and iv had two years of fun. now i am after an ek9 and the insurance isnt too bad. driving the starlet for two years must have helped and got me used to a faster car and i will appreciate the EK9 alot more. my starlet is pistonheads btw (cant miss a bit of free plug) Toyota : Toyota Starlet GT Turbo

1800 ain`t to bad man if your 19 and its fully comp, some companies were askin for total funny money but suppose it depends on the area you live etc. Yeah i have a mate too who is also paying over 3000 to insure a scooby... mental !

insurance for these cars are a joke, i spent a few days looking and eventually got it down to a price which was half reasonable

im paying 790 something fully comp, turned 22 in december, from scotland, coilovers and volks, 1 no fault claim april 07 in my old car. s d & p and commuting.

still would like it a lot cheaper, considering i can insure a stock rx7 for the same roughly. as it happens, i do insure a rx7 as well. 430bhp and £1700 fully comp! but imo that IS worth it!! :)

Like i said mate we have all done the sky high insurance thing, Like someone else said why not run a Starlet GT for a while to get the premium down?

The best thing about them is there's a world of parts for them and they go like a scalded cat!

I dont own an EK9 at the moment due to just buying a house but i will get one this year, Im running a Saxo VTS at the moment (dont laugh ne one) But it does me, its caught a few Audi and BMWs out, great little car, absolutley magic past 4000rpm!!!

EK9 for sale in the for sale section :D:D (couldnt resist the free plug :p)

Kind of in the same boat as you mate and I've decided to put off buying one for a year or two. Most likely two as Sky Insurance say they'll give an unbeatable quote on the car but only after I've been driving for two years with NCB x2. Being a member of EK9.org helps that little better too.

Personally I'd rather wait 2 years, save cash on the premium, and spend it on the car instead. Mugen twin-loop anyone? :D

And I wouldn't dare get TPFT either, under no circumstance take a risk like that with this sweet motor.
