I recently finalised on the sale of my long owned ek9 having owned it for nearly 10 years, the void was quickly felt....

luckily, I had this project brewing over the last few months of 2016. It has now started to pick up pace and hopefully will be ready for some track action by the mid-point of the 2017 summer season.

I have decided to take inspiration from the likes of Porsche selling the 'clubsport' specification for their more track focused models (I recently just sold my Cayman R as well - hence my afflication with Porsche marque). So have decided to keep some of the creature comforts and trim level (yes.. interior plastics and carpet), yet install track focused modifications such as; brakes, suspension, roll cage etc.

Anyway, progress to date:
  • EK9 Pre-facelift. Imported and registered via R-Motion early 2016.
  • Re-painted engine bay with NH0 2-k paint.
  • De-rust, treated and undersealed front end.
  • PAS 100% removed from DC2 ITR 98Spec steering rack
  • Safety Devices Cage half fitted

Looks good so far, I've gone for a similar theme with mine, it's nice to have a bit of interior

This is going to be a good build :blinx:

Started to look at the rear plastic panels & how (much) to re-fit around the cage. Using masking tape as my guide for where to cut.. the grinder came out (and the dremel for the curves) to slice away the top section of the rear panel to slide in first.

Sadly there wasnt enough clearance between the B pillar and the cage to slide this piece in as it was, I have had to cut the mounting clips off... so will have to decide how to secure it later.

Now I have this much left over, I cut along the new masking line - and offered these now two cut up pieces inside. I'm not sure if these will work so may end up making something up..

Haven't had much time lately to progress with the build, the interior panels have certainly had to take a 'back seat' for a while. Will get back to those later no doubt.

For the moment, the last few days has seen a little bit of progress getting the engine lined up and positioned in the engine bay.

Small half height, but full width Rad. Aiming to keep intake temperatures down.

Have a similar plan with my EJ9.
Which brand rad is that if you don't mind me asking, looking at one that can give it a tucked look but provide good cooling benefits.

It's actually a custom designed rad spec'd up by the Mike @ R-motion. Initially it was done as I was planning to run ITB's but I decided to cut back a little on cost and sell those on and go back to normal intake manifold/TB set-up.

In most full width k-swap setups though the hot rad surface is close, if not touching, the intake manifold on the k-series.. which I'm sure adds to intake temps and saps a little performance. Hopefully with this set up I can keep the intake side pretty cool & make the most of the performance this way.

Drop Mike a line sales@r-motion.co.uk if you're interested in one / similar, I'm sure he could get one out to you.

It's been a while since last posting an update to the build. Progress does however continue...

  • 'Torques' FPR Fitted near the oem fuel hard lines
  • Ktuned Fuel Rail & custom fuel line setup, with inline filter.
  • Blox intake with velocity stack
  • ITR Strut brace
  • Bumpers & lights loosely reinstalled.

Its running!

This week, now running, we took the car out on the back of a flatbed truck to a little known location for a bit of a shakedown..

At the Litchfield Dyno.

Results to follow in a few days.

Looks like such a clean swap man, all credit to you :rvm:

excited to see what she pulled on the dyno!

The car made good numbers on the Dyno (results will be posted soon.. ) but I felt that it was helped by the cold air feeds that litchfield placed on the intake/intake manifold keeping them extremely cool to the touch even after several runs.

Driving the car in the real world, sadly the intake temps and the intake manifold are considerably warmer - I suspect sapping some potential power.

To help combat this, I have started with adding some heat reflective gold tap on key locations as a start & later will look to duct/control the airflow to further help.

Added bonus, I think it looks kinda cool!

R-motion have now posted their video from the day, so I can follow suit and release the results:

She pulled 267,264 & 265 on consecutive runs. Needless to say, I am very happy with the results.

I think I will need to find some alternative hosting for the images in the thread.. seen as photobucket want to be deleted from the internet with their latest d!ckmove...

Will get the images uploaded else where and update the thread soon.
