Hey lads, for you probably just another B18C swap but for me it was a huge deal.
Since it's quite complicated to find in Czech republic someone reliable who can rebuild a B series properly - especially B18C me and my friend decided to rebuild two same engines at the same time by ourselves.
We did already some minor things like changing piston rings, head rebuilds etc. before but never any complete engine.

I bought my original EK4 in 2012, started searching for B18C components in 2016 and now I should be able to break the engine in.

Powertrain spec:
JDM B18C - bored and honed, CR around 11.5:1
P30 pistons
CTR cams
Hondata S300 v2
Cold air feed to standard box w/t carbon elbow
S4C tranny w/ ITR LSD
TODA rep headers, custom SS exhaust

Brakes spec:
Front 282mm
Rear 240mm
ITR master cylinder and booster
Braided lines

Suspension:
sucks - to be changed very soon

Here you go, few pictures from the engine rebuild. I will upload another as I continue with the car.

BIG THANKS to @jesse888 for all the advices during the build and the B16B head I got from him. Thank's mate!

Well if the break in is successful I want to do a propper remap and afterwards I will have to change 2 things pretty fast:

1) Dumpers because they are pretty old and it feels weird to drive. I'm considering either MeisterR coilovers or BC Racing, pherhaps something else on the same level.

2) Wheels because they are damn heavy and at least one is already cracked in the area of a stud hole. And I hate them

It's hard to get a nice set of used light and firm JDM rims in my country so I will have to source something from abroad.

So that D Day happend today

We finished the gauges, changed the rad, car got new half shafts, everything checked in the Hondata and then we hit the road.

I made only 80 km today, trying to keep it under 4500 rpm. When I get to approximately 500 km, we change the oil and will try what it can do :drive:

Positive is that in comparison to the old B16 it's relatively more quiet. With the newly straightened flywheel and new half shafts I enjoy the luxurious smooth drive offs which were no longer possible with the old engine and super crappy half shafts.

Engine is running smoothly, Hondata shows no error code... Can't believe it's even possible :nerv:

Thanks @xxxencorexxx for the Mishimoto rad :thanks:

Very nice, b18c'd ek should of been a factory optional upgrade the s80 is also a very nice upgrade from the s4c non lsd... I've the same setup only a b18c6 n s80 U.K. spec ✌️️I recommend meister r coils can't fault em I've run them for 3 years now no problems.

Yeah, S80 will be the next step I guess! Thanks for the tip on the Meister R, I thinkg I will try them out. I'm not sure about the spring rate tho. I spend most of the time on the public road but I do several track days per year too.

Pm jerrick at meister r and tell him what you will be using the car for he will point you in the right direction plus you get a 10% discount from using this fourm im sure

Ooops, looks like I'm gonna need some tuning magic pretty soon.

Little update after more than one year.

@jesse888 tuned my car over the bloody internet just with lots of road records!!! And I'm very pleased with the results. It will get some final tweaks on the dyno for the torque curve but it was a truly amazing job from his side! Would never go elsewhere.

Car has in the meanwhile approximately 5.000 kilometer including 20 minutes on the track without a single issue - except brutaly high oil temperature. Need to fix it with oil cooler ASAP.

OCT installed (great low-vis placement!)

I also finally upgraded the suspension with MeisteR CRD+ and I must say I'm pretty satisfied with it. Not too harsh but very stable.

In the same time I had to fit different wheels as original OZs had cracks around the stud holes. Still wrapped in AD08R but for the next season I want to try the AR1 from Nankang.

Soo finally we sorted out the oil temperature with the 16 row Mocal/Tegiwa kit.

My friend made a nice holder sitting on the AC cooler brackets with some rubber in between.

I'm gonna test it tomorrow at the track!

Impressive work! Which drive shaft brand did you use and what kind of oil temperatures were you seeing on circuit out of interest?

Some good work there, I was over in the Czech Republic for holiday about 2 years ago, don't think I saw even one EK civic!

Thanks! It's some cheap brand from UK Ebay but lot of people also from this forum recommended them:

Regarding temperatures in the summer when it was really hot (34 C air, 38 C track) after two hot laps (approx. 4 minutes) it went to 140 celsius or even little above. I was shocked to be honest.

Yesterday with the oil cooler (outside temperature 13 C and track 15) I never went above 110 C oil and it even helped with water which never went above 85 C. Some I'm really really happy about that. It should be fine also for next summer I hope.

Yeah there was never many B series Honda cars and they are slowly dying. We have actually quite big Honda comunity (for the country size) but the cars are either crap or only for looks with D series etc. Luckily there are also some decent builds with super or turbochargers too. Most of them are then weekend/ track cars only.
