Civic EJ9
Hi guys totally new to this forum except been building hondas for around 8 years now so going to try take you from my journey then all the way till now and then see how we go. Now im aware alot of my choice with my builds might not be to peoples taste but i hope to hear opinions anyway. Thought it would be nice to share the journey anyway so here we go. The picture below is one of my favourites was taken around 4 years ago with my 2nd shell

so it began in 2012 i was 16 no license my friend had bought a honda civic ej9 pre facelift in thunder grey. I loved it and my mind was made up i had to have one so i bought this little thing a 2000 vogue silver metallic ej9 my first proper taste of a civic just a d14 but at the time loved it all the same. It was completely standard had 82000 miles on it usual rust at back arches so here it is.

So basically i went got the arches done and the rear bumper painted so it was at least in better condition. I then did the usual when your 16-17 and bought a massive sub woofer a straight pipe and leds lights. I dunno what i was thinking but you live and learn i guess heres some pics.

So following that i built up a MK1 Caddy pickup that was pretty cool and start of 2015 civic went off the road and sat didnt want to sell it as i loved it was my first proper car. Now we come to the slightly more intresting part of the civic journey....

January 2016 i had sold my Caddy so had a fair bit of funds to throw into the civic but it had started seriously rusting and wasnt really worth fixing so i stripped all the bits i liked off it and found another one that was really clean 58000 miles heres some photos it had been minor modified but was cool and i couldnt wait to get started.

It was acctually a good friend i knew that owned it and had helped do some of the work to it so knew it was solid etc. So as you can imagine still with a fair bit of funds started ordering bits.

So found my self a full rear disc setup but instead of using it went to order most of stuff brand new so order brand new oem RTA bushes, brand new oem calipers, drilled and grooved discs, new pads, new wheels bearings, braided brake lines and bew hand brake cables. Then totally refreshed the trailing arm itself by rubbing it down and painting it just black to keep it subtle and clean. I had also order skunk2 camber arms for front and rear, skunk2 rear LCAs in neo chrome and a Neo chrome Asr brace and beaks bar to match as old beaks bar had started to peal and corrode. So backend started looking sweet if i do say so myself.

The next things i ordered as it was going so well was a genuine airwalker BYS bumper and brand new xxrs and then sourced a buddy club spec 2 exhaust which wasnt easy to find but i had wanted one for ages. Also ordered a samurai sword gearstick and custom grip royal steering wheel so now i had all the parts just had to put them together.

So i sent the car along with the bumper etc in for paint during that time i thought i would look for some better coilovers and a usual for me at about 2 in the morning ordered Air ride wasnt a straight bolt on kit took abit of fitting etc so basically heres the car once painted and air was on also did the usdm amber corner kit.

So then a brain wave arrived i fitted the XXRs on a saturday morning as it was a show at knockhill that morning i dropped the air down and i just wasnt mega impressed it didnt quite jump out at me. Then it hit me i needed wider wheels i had previously bought banded steels for my caddy fully powdercoated 9j fronts and 10j rears i thought why not try them on the civic as i was a fan of the euro banded steels look on VWs. I got them on fitment was amazing but looked good and wanted everyone to see the transformation of my car so quickly got going to knockhill. It went brilliantly the car got an amazing reception lots of photos etc and acctually won a trophy that day which i was over the moon about and then disaster struck it was the end of the show i went to put my bags up to drive home and one wouldnt go up so unsure what was happening got a jack etc jacked it up too look underneath basically because of camber that i was running to accomodate wide wheels the spindle had rubbed through my bag and burst it‍♂‍♂ so had to get recovered home here some pics of her at the show.

I had the car on the road quite a lot that year doing what anyone should with a civic, enjoy it i built a boot build for the Air suspension and solved all the issues with the bags rubbing etc.

It came to around July I am sure 2016 after being in Scottish Car Show Top 50 that was the last day i drove her and she was declared SORN as i had decided i was going to build a serious project go back to basics and start again. Build the civic i had always wanted.

So i looked for a clean shell or car to base this off, to re shell the car i found a mint little Tin Top 2000 EJ9 supersonic blue under 30000 miles full history etc i snapped her up.

so stripped and sold everything i didn't want and started ordering bits including BYS bumper, Zeal spoiler both hard to find, Rayvern hydraulics kit, custom CCW D11L wheels etc it went in too a body shop and its been there up until present day. It has had every panel replaced now with genuine Honda panels including full rear quarters, sills and even had full rear inner tubs to make sure she was straight as an arrow. Was painted in 3 stage La Ferrari pearl white which i love and had a lot of smoothing done to the body as i like a partially retro look but also clean and tidy. All windows and seals were replaced with genuine Honda so now the car is spotless and solid yes its very extensive and expensive but in my eyes worth every penny. Here is some pics below.

Now the reason ive rushed the timeline is because on Monday i am bringing her back to the unit i share with my friends to fully recondition the underside and then the interior so i thought i would get up to date before i start that.

You're literally the opposite of me!

Crispy clean car mind! Good luck with the upcoming work.
Thanks very much man i know totally that it isnt gonna be to everyones taste in here being a sort of show car but i hope people will read through and appreciate the work anyway as ive tried to go seriously clean etc

Respect the work and appreciate the time put into it, plus the moneys! wouldn't do stance stuff for mine anymore but they are cool to look at, super clean! also good choice on the oem seals etc made a big difference to mine no more dampness
