Hi all I’ll be using this sight mainly to keep on top of my little project. Good and bad comments welcome. My first jap car so forgive me if I get a few things wrong as I’ve always had vws Audi’s etc...These are the advert pictures not in a nice state at all the girlfriend thought I was going mad when I bought it but I like to see past the multi coloured body panels and rust so here it goes!

  • Wiper delete
  • Raceland coilovers (want to go lower eventually) and the lad that I bought it off thought it was a good idea to paint everything blue under the car -_-
  • Spoiler tilt
  • Had to fully paint strip the bumper and got some primer on
  • Number plate recess removed filled and painted along with rear bump strips
  • Bought a set of rota kyusha alloys with brand new Toyo proxy T1s

Split the headlights and done the insides matte black, not sure what bulbs are in but thought they looked pretty sweet. Bought ek9 grille and bumper lip. Alloys will get refurbed eventually possibly use them as winter wheels and get something a touch wider and maybe 16s. Also made side skirt extensions.

Made rear number plate tilt brackets bought D2 racing LCA and give them a lick of paint (looks pink but they are more a berry colour) fitted and painted drums back black(going to get a rear disc conversion for it eventually) new ek9 rear badge. Just bought this SS system cheap with backbox and decat pipe £70 to my door so couldn’t argue with that!

Man that car was in some state, the rust on those arches :nono:. Looking a lot better now tho, got any more plans for the bodywork? Maybe some new arches/rear quarters at some point?

Anything other plans?

Are these standard ej lights on the front that have just been repainted? I have a spare set of Ek9 lights which I took apart and sprayed the inners black as was going to go down the black wheels/bonnet look but decided to stay with white wheels.

Yeah I’ve done a temp repair which doesn’t look too bad but up close you can tell. It will be going in the body shop over the winter for big changes!

Yeah I just wacked them in the oven and repainted the inserts black looks loads better IMO.

Going to buy a B16 over the winter too and rebuild that for next year. Must get cracking on the interior too!

Yeah a temp repair will do for now but glad to hear your going to get it done properly or it’ll just come back. Will make the car look a lot fresher that’s for sure!

B16 swap will make a big difference, you going for a type r b16 or a vti? My first car was 1.4i ej then I moved on to the Ek9 and the extra power is a hell of a lot of fun lol.

Well if your ever looking for genuine Ek9 lights give me a shout as mines are just gather dust in the garage and don’t think I’ll ever seal them and put them on the car.

Yeah deffo think I’m going for a full colour change too but not sure what yet! Always loved California blue but unsure yet! Ek9 one mate if I can find one getting hard to come across these days!

Hmm might be interested in them mate just waiting on a price to get a few bits painted and I’ll let you know mate thanks

Yeah there was a member on this site (think maybe American) who had one a similar colour and I think it suits the car if done right. Need the right wheels to set it off. Yeah defo getting harder to come buy but plenty of jap import garages in the uk breaking Ek9’s these days. Seems to be more money in breaking them than selling them whole.

No worries mate I’ve not advertised them anywhere so no rush.

Bumper and front lip is off for paint. I’ve colour coded the grill just needs a clear coat to finish. Rear lip is on roughly mocked up not the best of fits but might not look as bad when I use the double sided tape

Oh...and my helpers watching over me whilst guarding the fort haha

Making quick progress already. Is there not clips in the rear lip to pull it up tighter to the bumper? I’ve not seen mine in ages so can’t remember.

It’s not a genuine lip mate there’s the 2 screw holes either side and 2 little black plastic brackets underneath the lip. I’ve had a tinker on with it tonight it’s better now I’ve put double sided tape on

Grill done come out really well. Tried out different lacquer and it’s got my approval

Looking good mate! Which lacquer did you try? I'm trying to find a decent one that doesn't have a nasty spitting spray nozzle

I used simoniz lacquer couldn’t fault it in anyway and was only £7 for a big tin. Deffo worth a go mate! Going to use it to colour code the rest of the car i.e wing mirrors, door handles etc... see what the outcome is like

Rear lip on a little better.

Can anyone suggest any good dent removal kits? That little dent is bugging me on the boot :angry2:
