EJ6 & EK4 to EK9 CTR Conversion Guide / Thread


i like this thread quite a bit, but i have a question. i was talking with one of my friends today and he suggested that a b18 swap would add much more horse power than the b16, i was wondering which one would be much easier to drop in? im not thinking about a swap anytime soon bcuz i dont have the money to do so. im manually challenged, i drive an automatic at the moment. i guess i need to take the time and get the whole learning process over with, then that wouldnt bother me having a manual in my hatch.
 
As far as the A/C control panel goes, a USDM Civic Si part will work as it is the reverse of the RHD unit...
 
anyone know how to place a ek9 front emblem on a usdm civic(measurements from grill to hood, and how far from each end of the hoods to the center of it)?

im trying to find out if the mounts are in the same place from an EJ9 to an EK4/9 haven't heard anything about this before but know a friend had to move his for the 14 to DC2 engine... i know thats an 18 but im only interested in a 16 vtec...

they are the same in size..so if you can do one you can do the other!
 
I just bought a EK4 that has some progress on it from the previous owner that was doing a EK9 conversion. Several things concern me with my recent purchase.

1. The carpet doesn't look right in the car, there are several places especially in the back where it doesn't line up properly. I have a U.S. car so its LHD versus RHD, is this a problem I cannot fix and have to deal with?

2. The guy put a RHD Civic Type-R center console trim (around the radio) and it isn't properly installed it is loose where I can pull it out. In a U.S. car maybe there are no mount points for it? Or maybe the guy just rigged it to fit or broke something?

3. Currently it has Si gauges, but I want Type-R gauges. If I bought the RHD Type-R gauges will it fit in place of the RHD gauges? Will it plug right up and work properly? U.S. cars go of MPH and I know Type-R is KPH, when I plug it in will the gauge so the the proper speed for how fast I will drive?

4. There is a Type-R steering wheel installed but the horns don't work, is this because they don't plug-in and play with US steering wheels or did the guy who previously installed it got lazy somewhere you think?

If you guys don't know the answer to my questions what U.S. website is as informative as this one??

Ooops sorry guys, I totally forgot about this thread.

4) EK9 has extra welds and is the only body frame to have a rear sub-frame brace + usual braces. Check pics of my car again.

5) EK9 has another brace or thicker beam on top of where the hatch bolts onto.

Do you know whether the rear impact bar can be swapped to a sedan ek chassis? Will this give any rigidity or is it only for crashes?
 
don't know if any1 actually touched on this, how do u go about converting a dash from left hand to right hand drive, i mean is there is there a site on the web to by individual parts 4 this?
 
I was thinking of converting my car to RHD. what are all the parts i would need? i know i need a dash, and move my break booster over. what about the steering??

Does the CTR have a rear strut brace? Also I know the ITR has a rear lower tie bar, does the CTR? Thanks!!!

Rear strut brace no. (the one that goes in the trunk)

Yes it has a lower tie bar.
 
am planning on converting mine from a pre-face lift EK4 to a facelift EK9, aside from the general

lights
frontbumper
grill
bonnet
front fenders

what else would i need to change?
 
okok i live in florida, usa i need a full rhd clip minus the engine.... anyone have any ideas where i can get it?
