DIY front wind splitter

Nice one mate.
I'll warn you it looks alittle tatty lol

Wish I seen this sooner! Good work pal! :nice: top job.

Have plans to make a full undertray and similar splitter for mine once it's mot'd and road worthy again

Yeah I will get a test done one day lol I've lost the love for it ATM, looks abit scruffy.

Any update on how this is going for u mate? Times coming down or any worth while difference?

I havent managed to get it out yet mate. My times are still coming down from other improvements and just becoming a better driver. Hopefully I can get to brands later in the year and give it ago there.

jesse can you tell me more about the air dam bit,
how did you get to sit properly against the bumper?
whats it fixed with?
how did you shape it?
where did you get aluminium or what type/measurements is it?
did you have to remove the front lip?
soory for all the q's strongly rhinking of maken one :D

The air dam is made of sheet aluminium. Thin sheet can't remember exactly.
I then took the bumper off and placed it on the splitter. Marked out where it needed to go and then went about shaping the sheet
To get it curved I bend the sheet over so its now 90degrees along the whole length and then cut triangles all the way down the bottom half, this allows you to bend the sheet to the perfect shape. I then riveted the airdam to the wood. It's not attached to the bumper just fits real snug.
I don't have to remove the lip but I do remove the whole bumper to get the splitter fitted. I will be making the airdam alittle shorter before I fit it again as it makes putting the bumper on abit difficult.

Cool cheers for that mate. Any noticeable difference on the track?

Still no test yet, hopefully give it a test run when I'm at brands next. I've changed so much on the car I wanted a fair test really.

I think you can make it for Fiberglas will get more light weight

Could be done yes. But the cost would soon mount up. Splitter like this should be classed as a disposable item so replacing it all the time would get expensive.
