Dc5 k20a cams in k20a2

I'm doing a kswap into my dc2 and using a k20a2 engine.
Was wondering if anyone had used the k20a cams in the k20a2 engine.
Would it be worth it? And would I see any gains?
Any info would be helpful

Very little gains to be had, a little more peak power at later rpm that's about it.
 
the lobe differences are whats the biggest difference, but keep in mind that a Tuned A2(stock block) with a full exhaust, kpro and an intake will make just as much power as a bone stock K20A. If youre going to put in some cams, i suggest going aftermarket, like Skunk2 or Drag Cartel. Their first stage cams will net you noticeable power in the mid-high ranges, and will do more than just stock K20A cams. Tuning is everything, My current A2 put down 220/165 on the dyno, that was with a 3" header-back, KPro, and a Tune.
 
If I went aftermarket I'd have to look into aftermarket springs and retainers I'm guessing?
Would I have to go aftermarket valves aswel?
 
if youre going with a stage 1 kit, like skunk2's, upgraded valvetrain is not neccesary, the stock valvetrain of the Type S/R motors are more than capable to keep up, however, go any further than a stage one, and valves, springs and retainers are going to be suggested.

Whichever cam you decide on, ask the manufacturer what they suggest, most will tell you oem valvetrain will suffice for the low end camshafts, unless youre planning on going big with a really high lift cam in the future, i wouldnt worry about it. as long as everything is installed and torqued correctly at install. you should be fine.

no worries, good luck with whatever you choose, Drag Cartel are current my choice if i was to upgrade.
 
Ive yet to see a need for aftermarket cam sprockets, as one is a vdc system. Theyre used the same unlike b series. As the cam sprocket timing can be controlled via the ecu, hence the need for kpro if youte doung a kswap.
 
Sorry for heating up a Dino.. :) but I have very important question: does anybody know what is the difference between heights the A2 and A lobes? I've found a manual in .pdf for RSXs and there are heights of K20A2 lobes but can't find anywhere anything about K20A cams..
 
Iv got Drag cartel dic in mine, you don't have to change anything with them, mine is 250bhp, there very good cams and make good power
