DC2 Track Car
So after breaking my ek4 last year iv gotten the itch to build something for the track. Picked up a super clean 96 spec dc2 shell a few weeks ago which was only imported last october and never been registered here. :))

The guy i bought this off wanted to keep the bonnet but he happend to have a carbon bonnet cheap so i picked that up too.

I still have a couple sets of 5 stud wheels since my ek4 was 5 stud so i picked up ek9 hubs as i had to buy hubs anyway. Hoping to upgrade the front to 300mm disc before i get this out.

Also have a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 on the way too

So the natural thing to do with a dc2 when it comes to what engine would be a b18c but i bought a b16a2 and 96spec b18c head pretty cheap so i went with that for now. Realistically in the future i want to do hillclimbs / sprints or something competitive with this so 1600 makes sense as 1800 would put me in a 2L class for basically everything!
I sold the 96 spec cams and oem dual valve springs out of the engine and picked up a set of supertech springs and some b16b cams.
As the head was open i decided to pull it off and give it freshen up. Very glad i did this as i discovered there is PCT b16b pistons in it :D

Thats what i got for know but i'll keep this updated :nice:

Following - looks good man can't wait to see this come together. 1.6 is a bit different but a b series vtec is a b series vtec nevertheless :nice:

While i was waiting to get the dc2 collected bought a dc1 autocross car.. this thing was in bad shape with rust but i had my eye on the 6 point OMP bolt in cage. So i took the cage out along with a few other bits and pieces and crushed the shell.
The cage is in good shape but the previous owner added an extra A pillar bar, rear diagonal and harness bars. The welding work is less than impressive so i plan to replace these extra bars and add decent double door bars and few braces while im at it.

Thanks :nice: 1.6 is different but for future events an 1800 just wouldn't be competitive in a 2L class. And when this engine came up for sale at a good price it made the decision for me!

Good progress made on this. What sprint/hillclimb series will you be entering?

I haven't done much looking into it yet but i plan on doing some track days initially and hopefully progress to something competitive. Mondello is the nearest track to me and thats 4hr drive with a trailer! So hillclimbs seem like a good way of getting some seat time near home!
Do you compete @si8pny ?

Would you not get extra points for being less than 2000cc though? Or is it whoever crosses the finish line with the best time?

Out of interest is the dc2 shell much heavier than an ek9?

Im pretty sure it's just time rather than points.
From what I've heard, apparently a dc2 is lighter than ek and eg hatch but I'm open to correction on that.

Interesting, I've never actually bothered checking because I just assumed a hatch would be lighter than a coupe but you're not wrong.

The 96 spec ITR and 97 spec CTR are exactly the same weight, and the 98+ spec ITR is only 10kg heavier than the 98+ spec CTR (JDM model comparison though).

I guess it would come down to preference or what you happen to pick up in better condition/price, because it seems you could run a 1.6 in a dc2 and theoretically it shouldn't hinder power to weight at all.

No I don't compete just do trackdays I don't have the funds to compete this year with getting married

I think i'll be just doing track days this year but if not hillclimbs i'd like to do something competitive in the near future! Congrats man :nice:

Few more parts I've picked up for this so far.

P73 ITR Intake, matched to 68mm Skunk2 throttle body

B16B Cams with Brian Crower adjustable pulleys

PLM SP Exhaust Manifold

Kakimoto N1 cat back system

Skunk2 Pro-C coilovers

MOMO Daytona Safari wrap around seats
(images from google as i haven't collected my own seats yet)

Dude that seat is sick, how much did it set you back?

I'm hoping to get a wrap around fixed back myself soon, currently cruising around in a set of Supra confetti sr3s but I can't wait for a fixed back at a track.

I picked up a pair of them second hand for ok money. Both still in date too I think!

I've had a few sets or sr3s. My favorite seat for a road car!!

It's been awhile since I've had time to do much with the car! Got all the suspension and brakes assembled. Just waiting on brake lines and it will be rolling and stopping.

I have run into an issue connecting the rear arb. Seems to be because the suspension is set too low but that's where I want the height to be. There is very little movement in the skunk2 coilovers once the spring preload is set. Any advice is very welcome.
