Darren's K24 DC2 build

So i made a purchase this morning in the form of a M Factory Hellical LSD, OEM 5.1 FD and M Factory Syncros, all used with 7k miles on them, should get them on Tuesday :)

Good buy! The LSD and final drive will be the best mods on the car, completely transforms the drivability of it!

Thanks mate cant wait to get it all bolted on, wish i could have drove it without the LSD etc so i noticed a difference but seems silly to put it in just to take it out so i notice the difference lol.

Nice setup for your gearbox.
With 5.1 fd it will just be a rocket...:nice:

Just take my word on it, the difference is night and day when cornering and accelerating through a roundabout. I fitted a quaife ATB after owning my k20 dc2 2 months and it was a fantastic investment.

Will you be running power steering with the dc5 pump as you'll have to cut your carbon bonnet skeleton if you are.

Ahh i wanted the ATB but after talking to Henry the Hellical suits me better for what i will be doing with it,

Wont be running PAS didnt have it in my civic and loved the feel but that was done right, think it was Steven Ek9s old rack and it was full of grease instead of fluid, but i cant find a oem non PAS rack at all so going to either remove it and get it done right somewhere or just loop it untill i find one.

I can do this for you if you send me your rack.
Done mine afew weeks ago, can move the steering wheel with 1 finger, although no engine in the car ATM I'm positive that it won't be heavy, just heavier.

That would be ideal how much you looking for mate to do that?

Ohh this happened tonight.

And then with @LoganK help we lifted it into my garage.

Time to tidy the engine bay up and get it ready for its new heart. Lots to do before it goes in.

£50 and I'll send it back within a week.

Not a problem bud. Just pm me when your ready and we'll get going.

Take one or both of the track rod ends off, then steer the rack all the way to the passenger side.
This should allow(just) enough clearance to wiggle it out.
Failing that then try and pull the inner tie rods off for more clearance.
Is a faff and takes alittle patience but come out in the end.

So on the windiest day known to man in Scotland...this week anyway, i picked up my carbon bonnet.

There are no badges on it but was assured that the owner was 99% sure its a spoon bonnet, he has checked the weave and against another bonnet, so off i went 20 minutes up the road and got it, didnt see the point in fitting it because i need to fit the k20 so can go on after that.

Small update time.

Before i started tonight.

10 minutes in and it looked like this.

And about an hour to take all that useless stuff that blows air out.

Then used this which i bought ages back to see how much weight i lost with all the FRP parts i had on the 200sx.

In total it saved around 10kg ditching all the blowers etc, i am lead to believe 10kg isnt to be sniffed at so chuffed about that, i think so far with everything i habe gotten rid of i have saved around 30kg hopefully

10kg in the blower motor and interior bits.

around 9kg in swapping for a carbon bonnet i think.

And i think around 10kg in the PAS and lines i got rid of

So that was where i got to tonight, just need to tidy up the inside and get paint bought for the inside.
