Will be looking to buy a daily runabout in the next couple of weeks.

Something cheap to run/insure.

Budget depends on car but nothing expensive as it is just to get to work and back really :)

Had a look at EP 1.7cdti quite like them :nice:

How far do you drive to work Logan? Don't bother with a diesel unless you do some serious miles. Modern turbo diesels are refined and great until they go wrong - then they become a right PITA. I do 100 miles round trip to work and back atm and the diesel saves me around £1k per annum compared to driving a 4x4 on mud tyres which is what I used before (I know - MAD! So if you do less and compare it to something like Honda Jazz the savings would be negligible (if any). I bought a 57 plate ex-taxi Octavia 1.9 tdi, it smokes, it is fairly battered, but it did cost peanuts and returns 52 mpg (and I'm sure it could do better than that if someone else was driving it lol). It has a huge boot and is fairly comfy (again, compared to the Vitara lol). Diesels take a good bit longer to get up to temperature so if you do less than 10-15 miles each way to get to work I'd say don't bother - get a small petrol car instead, even a 1.4 EP or something like that.

Iv got an 04 plate astra 1.6 petrol iv had for about 2 and a bit years done about 40k miles and all iv had to do is service it and change 2 tyres, it get about 45mpg aswell doung 30 or 80 its always the same :)) i worked out it saves me about 400 a month on petrol over my other honda's iv owned iv prob washed it like 4 times aswell

I'm not fussed about diesel or petrol tbh, as long as it's economical :)

I just got a quote from my insurance to switch over from my Jordan to a 2001 1.4tdi 5 door polo. They want an additional £216  !! How do they come up with this rubbish!

What I mean is that from my experience small non-turbo petrol engines are almost as economical in terms of fuel consumption as diesels, they are just as reliable, but any repairs needed tend to be far more expensive on diesels! So if you do any less than 20k a year I personally wouldn't bother with a diesel - unless you like the torque of course. I only went with the diesel because it came up at the right price at the right time, I'd have been equally happy with a small petrol car. Get a Honda Logo they are awesome :D Who are you with? I've just tried brentacre for the first time and so far I'm very happy!

I had to get a spare car at short notice because of a change of job(civic was broken of course!)
My buddy was selling an mx5 so I grabbed that.
It gets over 300miles to a tank no matter how I drive it. Think i worked mpg out to around 35. So not too bad when your used to low 20s.
Been reliable so far and I've also washed it about 4 times since December lol
What I'm getting at is I'd get something alittle fun but not stripped out aero-civic mental....
I quite enjoy the drive to and from work which is nice to get up to early in the morning, an Eco-box would bore me and make my day feel even longer than it does now.

Mate I just picked up a 54 plate accord I-cdti executive as I need a daily for the winter. Its fu*king awesome man, top spec, full leather sat nav heated electric everything. absolute weapon. 65 quid to fill the tank and 500+ miles out it and it goes well like. It will get a set of wheels, springs and splitters probably and that will be that. Feel like a proper grown up driving it haha. You can pick one up relatively cheap so aye I would say go for one of these man.

That engine is going in your nine mate....
Logan buy one of those crap 1.4 ccivics from Facebook. Bought mine for £480 all I have done is mot it and tax it. Bullet proof and mega cheap

One of my mates has a Yaris T Sport as his daily. Cheap, fun, economical and indestructible.

Anything with a PD engine is what you want pal :) Mk4 Golf here, 60mpg average since I bought it (actual, indicated is 65), and parts are pennies on the rare occasion it needs them.
