Hi just wandering where can i buy a comptech ice box and sri, for an ek civic, cheers guys

Hi All,

I've got a EK9 with a B18C swap. Does anyone know if the Comptech Ice Box for the DC2 Integra will fit into the EK9 Engine bay/bumper area?

Is there a difference between the Civic SI vs the Integra Ice Box? I assume the Integra intake diameter (from the box to the throttle body) is bigger than the Civic SI?

From reading the other posts on here, I'm pretty sure the Box portion of the Comptech Ice Box will fit no problem. I'm just concerned as to whether the cold air trumpet portion (that goes towards the front bumper) are different lengths between the Civic Si and Integra ice box versions.

Here are some links for reference:

Civic SI Ice Box: http://www.ct-engineering.com/store/330120.html

Integra Ice Box: http://www.ct-engineering.com/store/330121.html

*the pics are the same, but the part numbers are actually different. I've tried called Comptech, but no replies as of yet.

Thanks

Here's a re-cap of some of the replies I got back via PM (in case anyone in the future asks the same question):

I bought the one for civic Si. you can still use it even on B18C. The TB on B18C is 2mm bigger, but should be fine. Just lubricate the TB mount and slide it over. The difference is the design that suit the chassis. Youve got an EK, then get the civic SI. Other than that, its same. Regards

a dc2 box wont fit up in your ek9, u need the ice box for the 99-00 civic si. the actual ice boxes are the same in size between the dc2 and 99-00 civic but the comptech intake arms are different. the comptech intake for the dc2 is 3 inch and the civic's is 2.5 inches. you def want a 3inch intake but cant use the dc2 intake cause it wont fit up to the ice box so i ended up using the stock 3inch rubber intake arm from a b18c with a drop in comptech filter. i had to cut the end of the drop in filter alittle bit for it to meet the intake perfectly. so for your ek9 get a 99-00 civic si ice box, a comptech drop in filter and use a stock 3 inch rubber intake from a b18c and your set.:nice:

I would assume it will fit because you can swivel the bottom trumpet piece 360º so even if there's not much clearance, you could make it fit. If it's not an exact fit I'm sure you could make it fit, it's just plastic. I can't say for sure how different they are, I just bought the one for the SI, but I think you'll be alright.

From the helpful comments I received, I believe there should be no huge differences between the Civic SI and Integra Comptech Ice Box (other than the mounting locations from the pics I've seen from the ek9 and a separate dc2 install thread: S&M Racing)

With that said, I've already ordered the Integra Ice Box + Comptech Drop-in replacement filter + Samco intake arm. Will report back once I get the parts and perform the installation. I'm expecting to have to put together some custom mounting brackets (due to using the DC2 Ice box on my EK9).

Thanks Guys.

I dont get it...

Why are you using the integra ICE box on a Civic Chassis? Up to you... gdluck!

Because I want to use the Samco intake arm which is meant to replace the B18C oem intake arm.

From the research I've done, I know the samco intake arm will fit the Integra Comptech Ice Box for sure, but there is no guarantee that the same samco intake arm will fit the Civic SI Ice Box (especially when the CT website indicates that the Civic SI Ice Box requires the use of their aluminum intake arm, where as they state the Integra Ice Box can be used with the OEM intake arm). This all leads me to believe the Civic SI intake diameter is slightly different.

Since I can't refund ice box once I've ordered it, I'd rather have a setup that fits the engine more so than an ice box that fits the chasis but doesn't work with the samco intake arm.

hopefully that makes sense

you might have just made your install of this intake go from easy to complicated. if u have a civic why would u get a dc2 air box? yes the b18c samco intake will for sure will fit on the dc2 air box on a dc2 body. what makes u think the dc2 icebox you bought is gonna fit in the same location as it does on dc2 on your ek9? samco intake arms are made for stock fitment not mixing and matching. hopefully the stuff u bought works and u have no problems but if u asked 3 people and 2 of the 3 run the intake on the cars and said they run the civic box i dont know why u would take the chance of trying the other one but if it bolts up come back and let us know cause thats a nice set of info to know:)

can this icebox for the 99-00 civic si be used on 96-00 w/ a sohc engine? since you can put a b16 throttle body on a d16 the piping should matte there.
