Colby's EK9

Couple of pics of my new RE works strut brace, nothing overly special but looks good and does the job + fits fine with my EDFC boxes which was the main aim :)

Got a few more bits in the pipeline for when I get back from the US this summer... Skunk2 inlet manifold, 68mm Skunk2 pro series TB and a tegi toda rep manifold, then its going off to Romain at AR Tech for mapping

Loving the car mate. I had a yaris t sport for my first car as well. Lovely little car but as you said, turn on the civic and you forget all about it xD. My teg is being mapped by romain in the 22nd. Are you booked in yet?

Cheers man :) the Yaris was a great car for what it was, spanked almost everything else of its class but compared to the 9 it was just too limited in terms of the power gains to monies spent balance.

Nah not just yet, spoke to him for about 45 mins on the phone last month to go through all the options and recommendations of what I wanted to buy before getting it mapped... he spent a lot of time persuading me not to bother with jenvey itb's until further down the line, noise would be epic but not great for power on a 16b without major head work and apparently they can be a bitch to set up correctly. I know hes got a lot on at the moment so looking at a 2-3 month wait from when I book to getting it done - can only be a good sign! Was really nice to find a tuner who came across as a genuine enthusiast who had the time to have a proper chat about all the different factors and what kind of set up I was looking for rather than the typical - 'this is what I can do, take it or leave it' mentality!

You had much done to the teg?

engine bay looks mint, great job!

Thanks dude - got a load more to do before id class it as 'mint' but its getting there slowly... finding time to get stuff done with a 3 month old child has its challenges!

I'd like to have the engine out over this winter to clean the block + box up and give it a lick of paint, a few other little bits that need painted might get done before if I have time - rad bracket, p/s pump tensioner etc...

Not a lot Tbh, only bought it recently. All I've done to it is spoon drop in filter + cold air feed, tegiwa toda rep, decat and a custom 2.5 exhaust system. I want to set up a oil catch tank before mapping as I don't like the idea of oily fumes entering the intake and messing up the air fuel ratio. I want to leave it as that untill I have enough money to fork out for a b18c4 + s9b lsd + turbo or a stock b18c6 rotrex supercharger set up. Enjoying stock na b18c6 as it is after coming from a b16a2 ek4. :). I'll upload the results before and after mapping when the time comes on my thread. Can't really wait tbh haha

Got a few bits done last night, fitted my new tegiwa toda manifold...

havent had time to take it out and see the difference properly yet but on first impressions it does seem like it has a bit more torque through the lower revs which is nice.

Just need to get my inlet manifold and TB ordered and I can book it in with Romain for mappage :)

I missed my map date with romain! At last minute my car developed a fuel leak problem at one of the injector seals. Has been rectified now though, gutted! It's also now developed a flat spot at around 2-3k revs. Going to target the lambda sensor, should be purchasing a new one in the next few days

Thats a PITA dude, especially when your working with someone who is so busy, I spoke to him the other day and penciled in a date for late September so long as a can get everything I've got at home fitted in time!

Which leads me on to the fitting to-do list...
- new Exedy stage 1 clutch
- Skunk2 alpha 66mm TB
- Skunk2 Pro Series Inlet mani
- Mfactory solid shifter bushings
- outer CV joints
- track rod ends + then tracking

Got a bit to get through but with any luck it will get done by the end of the month and then shes all ready for the rollers! exciting times ahead :drive:

Loving the the mani, looks good with that heat wrap. My heat wrap was red but now its lost its color and turned a whitish looking color. Cant comment on the torque increase as mine came without a exhaust system and had to fit my own lol.

Looking forward to the updates on this man. Definitely post up the results once everything is fitted and mapped.

My remaps now on the 7th of Sept.. a short while now. Fingers crossed for the both of us!

Lol cheers man, :)

cheers dude, getting there slowly. Its coming off the road over the winter so hopefully i can get a few more bits tidyed up in the bay. Im sure it will be worth the wait when you get it done!

Photo time!
Met up with an old friend (Ash B) and @avidjames last week to have a natter and catch up... ended up having a bit of a random photo shoot at a stately home / mansion type of place around the corner from me in Moor Park.

its the first time I've had some decent DSLR pics done by someone who knows what they are doing and I'm really pleased with how they came out :)

With it all being a bit spur of the moment I didn't get a chance to wash the car so it was slightly put to shame by how clean James's DC2 was looking! I can honestly say I've never seen such a clean example of a Teg in person until then, literally looks like its just rolled off the forecourt...albeit with a few choice JDM mods!

I think James has a few more of the teg but ill leave him to post those up.

Thanks for looking :)

Lovely ek9 mate, Keep up the good work :)

Cheers man, trying to keep the work going but I think most of the big stuff will have to wait til it comes off the road over winter. Will be out next season looking minty fresh with any luck!

Cool pics, car looks great :nice:
TE37's suit it well :nice:

Cheers lads, yeah always loved Rays Wheels and they were a nice bonus when I bought the car :) still got a black set that were on my yaris to flog at some point too... hopefully the white set on the 9 will be getting refurbed this winter in bronze if I can spare the cash!

Looks like my list of winter fixes is getting longer every week! Just after a few days a hard rain I've noticed a couple of wet patches on the drivers footwell, I'm hoping its just where the sealant has gone hard and cracked and not my heater matrix shitting itself! still not the end of the world...

Going to get the clutch in one night this week at a mates garage, new track rod ends fitted and tracked up then off to Rockingham for a track day this Sunday :)

Time for an update!

...took the old girl on track back in late September last year for an open pitlane day and it was a blast! There were a fair few clio cup cars and fully track prepped bits of kit there but nothing apart from a hardcore M3 blew could get away!! I was so impressed with how it handled in the slower corners (the initial turn in with a bit of boot is incredible) and how it stable it is through the fast stuff. I can also highly recommend Rockingham if you have never been before, its got a great mix of corners and cambers.

I cooked the brakes several times and by lunch was probably running on about 0.5mm of pad! only went out in the afternoon to poodle round engine braking but then inevitably ended up trying to stick with people and before long I was running backing plate to disc up front! The 70 miles home were not the most pleasant, having to use the handbrake most of the time to pull her to a stop :nerv:

The week after I ordered some Stoptech discs and pads which we fitted in an evening... FYI before the track day my calipers were a fairly uniform red colour...:wow:

They were very quick to bed in, the initial bite seemed quite dull but as soon as you get a bit of heat into them they just get better and better - thinking about getting rid of my ABS as it feels like its holding it back earlier than I would like it too but then again its gotten me out of trouble on a few icy mornings so am in 2 minds about not having it... thoughts or experiences with or without ABS welcomed!

Took a couple of shitty pictures one night after a wash... I'm not very good at playing with settings on my iPhone camera, I was deffo not born to be a photographer!

Also need to get some better heatwrap sorted for the system... looks like the stuff I used doesn't take to kindly to track temps!
The next job on the list was to get a new clutch, hadn't started slipping just yet but the pedal had a very high bite so thought I would get it sorted to save it shitting itself when it goes on the rollers next month.

Old busted:

I started out thinking I would just give the box a wipe over with an oily rag but then my mate got the wire wheel out on the airline and things got a bit involved...

So I now have a 2 tone polished box with a corroded up block! that will follow at some point when it comes out at the end of this year for some doctoring :)

My mate also got this for me as a bit of surprise... needs a few holes cutting for the lights and lock but I think it will look nice when its fitted properly.

I've also managed to acquire a set of staggered fitment Volk TE37's (7.5j for the fronts and 7.0j for the rear)

Came off a DC2 but I think they will look pretty mean on the 9 too, alongside giving it a bit more grip... hopefully they won't need too much arch work to fit, anyone else running 7.5's or bigger up front? I think mine are ET30's
30952708-5657-465E-B845-88C8F5E6F72D_zpsbh5iok2z.jpg

Also got an MFactory 4.7 FD that will probably sit around for a while until the syncros need replacing
