I need a new Clutch Slave Cylinder! :( anyone had any experience with the Seiken one that Jap service Parts sells? OEM honda ones alot more expensive?

Any help would be much appreciated?

Cheers

The seals went on mine a few weeks back so I got onto Lings and had a look at what I mite need to fix it.

I rung Honda for the parts and got 1 piston, 1 spring, cup A, cup B, and the outer cover. Only cost me £23 and I had a bit of fun re-building it. It's very simple to do and will save you about £100.

Excellent cheers mate! :thanks:

No problem.

What is actually wrong with yours tho? Mine was leaking fluid and had lost nearly all the pressure in the pedal but was still able to drive it ok.

If you do have a go at re-building it then you also need some normal grease and some high-temp grease, I used cooper grease as that's all I had that was high temp. It will proberly need a really good clean in there too!

Mines is just leaking grease into the footwell very badly! no loss of pedal pressure yet and no clutch fluid lostl! yea dont worry I will give it a good clean, my mechanic will have all grease I need no doubt! :)

Thanks again!:D

Are you sure there is a problem with the Slave Cylinder?

The Slave sits on the gearbox and the master cylinder is on the bulkhead as I'm sure you know.

So from your explanation would most likely be the master.

Yea thats what my mechanic reckons anyway. The grease is leaking from the hole that the rod that connects to the clutch pedal goes into. what do you think?

My brake fluid level is fine too and brakes feel perfect. When the slave cylinder is getting sorted I am fitted new front and rear discs and bleeding all the brakes so will give it all the once over. Wouldnt have thought it would have been the master cylinder but will get that checked too! :angry2:

thanks

It will be the clutch master cylinder

The slave cylinder wouldnt make the footwell wet

Are you sure its brake/clutch fluid if you havent lost any ?

Haha! Thought you must of been getting mixed up!

Have a look here 1999 HONDA CIVIC 1.6VTI CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER (RH) - Honda Original Parts from Lings Honda v1.01

When I look up parts I look at a vti as it's all basically the same. I can't see the clutch cylinders being any different tho.

I know I am a clown! lol

That is perfect thank you! Got a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder for £150 from Honda brand new! :) done a wee deal! :)

Cheers for the help mate!

I replaced the master and slave cylinders in my girlfriends EK9. Managed to find a real low mile old man spec four door Civic down the breakers yard so took the master and slave from it as they were like new. From what i saw all the cylinders are compatible from the same era so no need to pay Type R tax.

thanks again!

No problem! Glad I could help :nice:

Good job! That's an amazing price for the pair! Especially for the piece of mind of new parts.

hey i think i have the same problem as you in my ej9.

i have about 5~6" travel in the clutch pedal but it selects gears fine, and drives fine, i inspected all the lines and theres no leaking. bit low on fluid.

removed the rubber cap covering the slave cylinder on the g.box was dry, so i inspected the rubber seal on the slave cylinder piston and when i slightly moved it a lot of fluid came out. so im guessing its a fubard slave cylinder.

did you have the same symptoms?

yeah had a good inspection today, orederd a new one for £30 delivered new from ebay :~) looks easy enough to change

Yeh i changed mine a few months back easy enough to do just abit fiddly getting the rubber boot back on.
