Hi

I've got a set of driveshaft shop 2.9's in my k20 9

They seem very clicks at low speed

It's ok when they've warmed up a bit

I'm pretty sure it's not normal

Any advice?

What sub frame are you using? EK or DC/EG

Have you got ekk2 mounts or ekk1? Apparently this was a big problem with the earlier shafts but the new ones are o.k. If you have ekk1 shafts though it will cause this

Ekk2 according to the spec I was given with car

do they click when taking up drive? We had a similar problem with the volvo. Where the spline on the driveshaft was fractionaly too small for the hub. This inturn made the shaft move a tiny amount and caused a clicking sound. Mostly when taking up drive and under hard acceleration. I have seen this problem alot on the k20a forum and always wondered if it was the same problem. My k swap im using karcepts hubs with oem shafts so hopefully wont have this problem.

For the fix on the volvo we used metal glue on the splines which works every time.

It's fine taking up drive

It's mostly driver side when turning right, anything more then 1 lock

theres also ekk1 or ekk2 shafts. make sure everything matches!
i have clicking with my dss 2.9 too but think its because im running ekk1 shafts with dc2.
so i have brought some ekk2 shafts of weasel, hopefully it will resolve the problem...

This was a typical problem with DSS axles and i can't believe they haven't fixed this issue after all these years. Just do a search on k20a.org and you'll see all the problems going all the way back to like 2005. I'm almost certain it's due to incorrect axle length but i could be wrong. The only other reason they'd click is if your boots ripped and there isn't any more cv grease to lubricate the joints.

I had an issue with my DSS shafts - One side was faulty and would cause hellish vibrations when turning right at speed..

Not overly convinced to hear that they have more common faults! They charge enough for them.

Hope you figure out the clicking dude

Filled both sides with grease but still have the clicking

It's not any better or worse and after reading all the stuff on k20.org I'm just leaving it as is

Have you had an lsd installed in your gearbox? If you have and it hasn't been shimmed that can cause clicking or knocking

Having the same clicky noise. New DSS 2.9 axles. Clicks on low speeds, no clicking at full throttle.

got to be a design fault

ive used them hard and nothing has broke or gone wrong so im just living with it now

annoying
