Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place here.
Do I either get the civic insured and spend a few quid on some parts to get it ready for the track or buy an intercooler, lowering springs and a 285remap for my focus st ? Other options include spending a grand on lotto tickets and hope for the best

Well if the civics a track car why not keep it for the track?

So, spend a grand or so on the insurance to use it on the road as well as the track? To be honest, I don't like modern day Ford's let a lone ST's but if you asked me to pick one of those as an all round, do everything car I'd pick the ST I think. Buy a daily and keep the civic for track duties :nice:.

Civic. Of all cars on the road the ST is the one I hate the most lol, it's just a pointless boiled down version of the excellent RS. All it's good for is straight line speed, it is abysmal on track cause it doesn't turn and eats front tyres, the fuel consumption is horrendous so it sucks as a daily as well. It's a compromise car and that's never good. As above, flog that heap of shite, get something cheap to run and enjoy the Civic! Or sell both and get a RS, won't be any dearer to run than the ST and you can actually enjoy it on track.

I'd prefer to have the Civic for track use. It's cheaper to track than the ST - certainly in terms of consumables - and there's better support for the EK in terms of parts and modifications.

I've always wondered how the ST handles on a tight, twisty B-road?

Basically the civic will be just for crail and knockhill. But iv no way of transporting it unless it's insured and I drive it there I intend to keep both I only got the st last month seems to handle alright but not had a decent blast in it yet I got it because I wanted something newer, comfortable and quieter than the civic.I was getting sick of my ears ringing after a 5min journey haha. I have no intention of putting the st on the track just find it really hard to keep it standard. The fuel isn't that bad until you put the foot down then the screen reads "5mpg" my mate has an rs and it's amazing but I couldn't justify an extra £15,000 foR one and £200 a tyre

Fair enough, Well so it's basically a toss up between spending money on a daily which for a daily is already more than enough fast or getting on track this summer?

Yeah pritty much . With the civic insured it will be close to 2 grand on insurance between the two :/ I feel as if the civic has been a bottomless money pit for the last 2years

How about selling the St, getting a diesel and a trailer? I know that's what I'll event end up doing... If you only insure the civic for the summer surely it won't be that bad? Or try to get them on the sAme policy?

I really like the st I doubt I'll part with it for at leather 3 years. I was trying to get them both on the one policy but that 1250 for the focus and then it would be another 660 for the civic then in September another 750 for the focus then this time next year I'd have to play for both at the same time. There must be a better way to do it but iv not had much time to phone places insurance isn't cheep at 20 :/

Well I'd rather drive around in a Nissan Micra than not have the Civic for track but that's me lol. If you don't have the urge to go on track and you're set on keeping the ST then maybe it's time to sell the Civic, it's just going to deteriorate and gradually lose value. Maybe try to ring a few places and see if you can get a better deal on insurance? Tracking cars will never be cheap, just more or less expensive.

I think I'm just going to leave the st standard and track the civic just swapped my reclining sparcos for some fixed ones and I'm back in love with the civic again haha

TBH I think it makes sense - I mean is modding the ST going to actually make it better? Sure you'll gain some bragging rights and it will overtake a bit easier, but I'd imagine it's pretty good at overtaking already. Keep it stock, that way you'll have money left for track and the ST will still be useable as a daily.

I just want it over the 300bhp Mark but to get there properly and safely and keep the power usable it's mega bucks so I think I'll make do and have my fun on the track with the civic No doubt in a week I'll be thinking this over again

I was chasing a modded focus St on track yesterday, in my stock mazda mx5 on budget tyres......
The focus didn't corner or stop very well, pulled on the straights obviously but that fun soon dies out, throwing a car into a corner whilst on the brakes never gets old.

Iv no doubt that the civic would at least keep up with the focus of not be quicker round a tracK. I wouldn't even think about putting the st on a track. Was just looking for advice on what one to spend my money on but iv decided on the civic for now haha. until I actually spend the money I will change my mind like the wind changes

sell the **** t and buy a nice diesel as said far better idea then make the civic a beast

Definitely not getting rid of the st I love it to much it will be left standard and the civic will get done. I got my fixed back sparcos in it tonight and I can't wait to get out in it now the civic was my first car so I doubt I'll love any car as much as it. but the st is my second car and only had it a month and I already think I'll keep it for ever too I don't think I'll ever be able to sell any car I will buy haha
