Civic Jordan 258 rebuild

So been a while since I updated here.

In short:
Sleeves dropped at the dyno, been away for fixing
Installed spoon mirror
Installed sunstrip (might have already mentioned this?)
Zeitronix now installed along with boost gauge (lights up yellow. YES I got excited about that) in the OEM radio DIN slot
New radiator stay
New upper control arms as ball joints perished
New boost pipe connectors where needed (had holes coming in a couple)
Replaced a bunch of clips, bolts, etc
New catch can (turns out as it was blocked with old oil was causing issues)
New rear light seals as were perished and letting water in
Bought various Jordan merch
Sorted all paperwork for the car

Probably misssed a load of smaller points too as memory isnt the best.

Photos below

It has then been back to Horsham Developments for tuning.

Got to mile 480 of 500 mile run in and cam shaft seals failed. these were replaced and put back on dyno.

Found it had a boost leak again :(

Car is now at JDMRegiment again for tear down. It appears at first glance this is a head gasket failure as there is watery oil down the side of the block coming from the join where the head gasket sits.

Hopefully it is just a simple HG change and back for final tuning. It has been so long in the making now that it is doing my head in, but heck lockdown meant I couldnt really get out anyway as I was working all through it.

I am hoping it will be done for summer 2021. Paint work needs sorting in a few areas but I do plan to get it fully resprayed in a couple years as the bay is hideous and there are a load of imperfections on the exterior. Paint and PPF it will be to keep it mint for the future

So expecting a call tonight from JDM Regiment.

We spoke earlier and he was just about to start with tearing it down.

I am just praying it will end up okay.

Suggestion has been to move away from cometic (if HG is the issue) and use an OEM - IDK how I feel about that given the boost the engine is going to make. I intend on increasing the turbo size, intectors, etc in a year or so to make more power

Hopefully your all ready for 2021 man. Would love to meet up at some point and see this in the flesh i am a big fan love the details. Hopefully everything comes out well with the engine also and its not too drastic to fix.

Thanks bro.

Would love to get out and show it off. The little details in it are what makes it so special to me and I have a few more to add.

Engine has now been stripped and sleeves have dropped again along with suspect FPR broken so got some more machine work to do and a simple buy and change of the FPR.

Hopefully back with me by end of Jan (tuning done too!)

Update time:

Sleeves dropped again - only 2 thou though so not as bad as before.

Either way, the plan is to have them removed and installed correctly.

It pains me to write that as why the F*** didnt they install them correctly the first time if they know what is meant to be done?!?!

Either way, my HG was fine, not a single mark on it you wouldnt expect so thats good news at least

Figured I best come by for another update now I have some photos.

Sleeves have been pushed out and re installed. It was found that the O rings were not seated correctly, so this has been sorted.

Engine is now back together

While the engine was being sorted I had it sent off for paintwork.

The bay wasnt done when it was last resprayed by previous owner (AFAIK) and there were a few large stone chips on bonnet, wing and A pillar where something fell out of my garage roof.

Here are the results:

Now I am awaiting confirmation the engine is back in, driveshaft knuckle changed and new FPR fitted. She will then be ready for the dyno (yeah, again... I know) where hopefully all goes well and I get some good figures

Aim is for the car to be on dyno start of May

So more bad news...

The block has another pin hole in near to the water pump and the belt tensioner. Passed a pressure test, but had coolant coming out when running. Rather annoying given it seemed to be running spot on.

So engine to come back out and be stripped down, then pin hole welded, pressure test again and rebuild.

Gutted to say the least

Great build. Sorry to hear about the engine issues and hope you get it sorted.
Could I ask where you got the rear hornet emblem and the emblems for your mat? My Jordan is missing both and I'd love to order them. Cheers.

Already replied via IG, but it was Teeky_JDM on here who supplied the emblem. He has a few posts on first few pages to aid finding him

Engine has also been put back together, with the new valve cover on and back in the car.

still think it needs a carbon plug cover to finish it off

Ran up to temp and thermostat was sticky, so thats been replaced and then ran up with no issues immediately found, so hopefully off to the dyno soon!
