Hi all had a strange one with the civ today i had my car running for 30 mins because the battery hadnt been started in a few weeks. I just wanted to test to make sure i had power for my gauges so i just touched on the battery all is good.

So i was tracing back red/black wires behind the dash below the radio looked like it wss for my 12v socket so i though champion ill just splice into that.

So i turned the car off then went to turn it back on to see if it will start straight back up again. Turned the key and the car just went pop!

By the sounds of it it sounds like the main fuse could someone tell me a part number or send me a link to the right fuse please.

Or better still someone explain to me what happened

Tested fuses getting 1.3 and 13 at the battery battery is a tad low but thats because my battery was dead and its only been running for 30 mins

Weird one! something short out and blow? yh I was going to say check fuses. Turn key now nothing happens or does it still turn over/run? dash dead? On my gauges 1 of the power wires accidentally came loose and touched something, had a lil flash and pop causing 1 of my fuses to blow lol

Absolutely nothing mate which makes makes me believe its the main fuse. Did sound a bit of a pop when i turned the key.

Yh check the main fuse if you have no power to anything and grounds. My car back fired the once after not starting it for a long time. Battery was weak and not a good connection at the terminals. The next day is ran fine lol but yh sounds like somethings blown in your case if its only just started after u connected the gauge. No expert sorry mate haha

Changed out the fuse started no problems my only worry is how the heck did it happen!

Weird glad it's sorted though! Something must've caused it to blow yh :/ bad grounds? Bad connection somewhere? Surely related to the gauges if its the last thing touched

Yeah very strange tbh it starts much better now ive ground the paint off where the earth is bolted to the body for the battery.

Im not sure where to tap into for the live for my gauges anyone got pics where they have tapped into?

Could you not tap into the 12V key on power for the stereo?

You can tap into the stereo or clock yh. Or if you fancy a bit more wiring and crimping, there's power slots in the under dash fuse box. 4 empty slots, constant power/switched/acc/ignition. It's like Honda almost knew I'd need gauges
