was looking at my cam timing today and notices the two cam shafts where pointing up with the little mark lined up but it looks like the intake is slightly off looking at the up mark ? But the mark is right ? The reason I ask is I'm having awful idle problems and this might be the problem

An easy way to check is to set it up as you would to do a belt change,

If you set the bottom pulley so it's at tdc #1 cyl (line up the mark) then remove the cam cover and you should be able to drop a pin in to each cam (see the picture)

It may take a small wiggle but shoul line up fairly easily, if it doesn't then your timing may well be out

Thanks for the reply so to be sure the pin should be at the highest in other words the cam lobe should be pointing up on both camshafts ?

I never knew about this, learn something new everyday!

Jp- if I'm correct there's a hole in the camshafts directly under that hole. So the pin goes through the hole and Into the camshaft. Locking it at tdc...

^yep exactly, if I remember correct it's a 6mm hole, a punch or drill bit is ideal to drop through the hole

Thanks a million lads I'll try that that seems like a much easier way then lining it up on the marks

Sound for the help I set I took it off and set it again just to be 100% sure and its grand now. Thanks for the help
