"Budget" k24 ek


Small update. Got the heater pipes installed and the system filled and bled up.

Looks proper agricultural but zero leaks is a win got the brakes bled but they are still a bit spongey. Ill give them another going over once i strip and clean the calipers. I also chucked a cup holder i had into the centre console as the car never had one. I got them from @shootall who found them on yahoo jp.

Not much going on right now with the ek. Took it a quick lap of the village and it was in limp mode, checked fault codes and made some changes on the ecu and took a 2nd rip and she pulls well, dying for an alignment and good bleed up of the brakes though. I was also given some wide arches to cover the front wheels so i dont get tugged by the police. Look terrible but a paint should help.

Managed to drive the ek 10 miles to get the alignment done yesterday and it was the scariest 10 miles ive ever driven. You can see that the lazer doesnt even hit the plate in the picture, absolute mile off car felt great on the drive home though. First time getting to do a couple of pulls in it but we are far from done! Getting some weird idle issues, sometimes its 800 rpm sometimes its 3k so will need to look into it. Either way great success.
 
Small update, the original tps was giving issues so grabbed a brand new acutity item from marketplace for 50 quid! Chucked it on and calibrated it on the laptop, ill get it out for a quick skoot at some point see if its helped smooth out the power delivery.

Big shift on the ek today, after another successful trip over to the gun run trackday organised by hiro racing the direction for this car has changed ever so slightly. Before we headed home i found a pre facelift SSB ej9 on marketplace and decided to take the plunge and enquire about it, after some digging i found it had been off the road since 2012 but the body panels were in reasonable condition which is the main reason i wanted the car. Cut to friday and @RyanSi picked me up with a trailer after some messages with the seller and we made the 3.5 hour trip north to see what the craic is. On arrival the car had to get a cheeky couple of litres of fuel to even fire up and ran fine bar an idle control valve so we made a deal and got back on the road.

We got back to mine and after an eventful test rip it was in the garage and work commenced. Bumpers, lights, wings, bonnets, doors and bootlid swapped over and 6 hours later we stood back to admire blueys new look.

I now really want to sell off the banded steels and get a set of "regular" alloys for it to make it a bit less eye catching to the wrong kind of people but so far we are sitting mint!

The paint on the new panels are far from mint too but at least its all one colour! Mega happy with it now so hopefuly not long until we are out and about. Plans going forward are a set of more understated wheels, fit the rad fan and get it motd. Over the next year in prep for the next ireland trip i want ep3 brakes up front, a baffled sump and get it mapped so hopefuly all going well she will be bang on soon enough!

Current state of affairs with the donor car, offered it up locally so if it gets snapped up fair fucks, if not ill completely raid it for spare parts
 
Randomly decided i wasnt feeling the draggy wing so pulled it off for now and fitted the oem one from the other car. Loving the "sleeper look" currently waiting on some wheels and legal tires so it can go for an mot and i have some cheeky wiring bits to tick off the list then we can enjoy the car for the rest of the year!

Chucked the wheels on as soon as i got home from work, 15x7 +35 if memory serves so bang on for an old honda. I think i might be tempted to lower the car a touch but im really feeling the sleeper look right now.

Mot prep complete. New number plates slapped on, temp sensor wired to ecu and fuel pump run through a relay via a cool little switch so i can act cool.

Ive also decided i need a kswap style throttle as the short d14 one is inconsistent and lacks enough asjustment.

Thanks man! Mot booked for friday and i have a short list of essentials before it makes it on track

-Fit the front anti roll bar
- Install ep3 front brakes/overhaul rears
- Get the car mapped.
