I am upgradeing my EK to a 5 lug conversion along with a full EK9 suspension this weekend. Was wondering what the best brake master cylinder would be to get. I have to get a new brake master cylinder because my old one is dead. So I thought, hey, I might as well upgrade it in the process. I have read previous post on the subject (thanks Blinx, Techy) but have a couple of things unclear. Oh and in case you are wondering, no I am not upgradeing my Brake Proportioning Valve. Here is a list of upgrades that I am getting:
ITR 5 Lug Conversion
EK9 Coilovers (shocks and springs)
EK9 Front Lower Control Arms w/ Sway Bar
ITR OEM Wheels
Civic EX Master Brake Cylinder
or
ITR Master Brake Cylinder
Which would make the better brake master cylinder for the 5 lug conversion. Any experiences, pros/cons on either of these will be greatly appreciated. If there is anything that I have left off the list, please let me know.

Techy:
you never put in your post how your brakes felt after you put the EX Master Cylinder in.

EX master brake cylinder is to small. You need 1" master cylinder (EK9, DC2, Prelude Vtec). Get it with brake booster.

Yeah. Go with the ITR booster and mc. Tho, i think its the same size as the ek9, some one will correct me if im wrong.

^^^ all not 100% true, Here I go again! Let me start by saying,If you can get the ITR master Cylinder for a decent price go ahead! But if not get the EX one it works just fine!!! Why because I have it in my 2000 Hatch EJ6 for 2 years now and never had a failure or problem..

ITR/EK9 BMC are the same. S2000 one will do as well, and is a tad larger.

good info guys. a friend of mine is gonna give me an ITR MC and Booster for $150 new! considering that the cheapest I can find the booster for was $150, I say I got a deal :D

Ok i have had a si booster and master cylinder. It was too weak for my five lug conversion. I would recommend doing a 1' master cylinder and booster. The size diffrence is massive and it also made my brake pedel much stronger and less likely to lock up. Thats a good deal for 150 thats about what i payed for mine from a friend.

Please explain how it was to weak please? Mine works just fine, so I'm really curious so we don't send false info out!

Honda designed the brakes with a 1" master cylinder for a reason.

15/16 can work but 1" is always a better bet if the calipers use OEM 1"

15/16" mc with 282mm front and 260mm rear disc will give very soft pedal. You can drive like that but car will brake like crap. 15/16" mc works fine with 262mm front 240mm rear. go with any bigger up front and will be weak.

I agree too, 15/16" can be used but 1" is best.
depends on your budget and application i guess.

ok, so an S2000 Brake Master Cylinder "will" direct bolt in fit a 96-00 Civic with no mods?, that is what we want to know because it is definitely cooler looking and takes up less room than the ITR MC and slightly more powerful if I'm not mistaken. I saw one in a 94-01 Integra saturday night and he said it bolted right in the teggy, so if thats the case it should bolt right in a 96-00 Civic? Right?
