Black RX project


had a bit of time over the weekend so got on with fixing my power mirror after it decided to self destruct (or someone hit it?)



got the mirror off by prying off the little metal clips over the nubs and then a bit of wiggling with the screwdriver.



next, to de-pin the plug so that the wires could fit through the mounting bracket. tired to keep as much of the foam intact to keep the moisture out.



new assembly fitted to backing and then re-assembled.



forgot to take a pic of it all back on but you all know what the wing mirror looks like! :D
 
nice one. was it hard to remove the glass? My passenger side isn't working neither.. hmmm

pretty handy. i just removed the little circular metal clips that are on the back of the mirror with a flathead screwdriver, then used the screwdriver to try and wedge the two screw actuators out off the mirror. the larger central one should just pop off. the rest is pretty straight forward. only difficult thing is getting the mirror screwed off from the door as the inner most screw catches on the doorcard and the threads on the mounting plate are very fine and easy to mess up
 
new bumper and lip on, fitment on the lip was a lil off but not too bad.

Are you going the paint the lip?
 
please paint the lip ! , will look ace then ! one of the few clean ek9's in Ireland , keep it up
 
lip will be getting painted satin or matt black when ive the bumper off again to take the gearbox out. just need to get the time to get stuck into it.
 
done some boring stuff like replacing gaskets/seals and sensors recently. nothing to warrant more pictures though. still need the time to get the box out and get it refreshed. Will be on two wheels soon though so IDK. lol
 
First moulding lip looks great! Don't know why but some EKs they look good on and others they just look out of place. Maybe it only works with some colours.

You ditched fitting the bys bumper for now then?

probably yea, there are no good people my way that can do bodywork/painting so i'll probably sell it on soon. plus since i bought a new oem bumper i dont need three bumpers! lol

should be, they are the same price on lings. Mine came to £260 ish as i got 10% discount from the parts guy. :nice: Tried ordering a front lip too but they were on an infinite back order. :rolleyes:
 
Woah ive missed a fair few pages of this! Love the first mouldings lip... Love the whole car :drool:
