I'll start with a few of my previous cars. My love for Hondas started when I used to skateboard and always saw a Civic Jordan parked near the square where we used to skate it was completely mint and I immediately thought, "Yes, I will own one of those some day!"
I didn't really think any more about owning a Honda until my 3rd year of uni when I was driving down the M5 to Plymouth in my Zetec S and a, EK4 Civic VTi pulled alongside coming up the slip road. It was awesome, it had the DOHC decals, the mid level spoiler and was sitting on chrome lipped rims with red centres - it sounded awesome.
I had to own a Honda.
After scouring the south for a decent one I managed to pick up a low mileage Milano Red UKDM DC2.
I also got my mate into Hondas and he bought an ACR
I loved driving this, it was a weapon compared to my Fiesta and VTEC across dartmoor and through tunnels was just heaven!
Then I moved to Great Yarmouth, started a job and decided (stupidly that I should invest in a "sensible" car. I thought that a DC5 was just the ticket, but I didn't really have the budget and the insurance will just stupid money since it was an import. So an EP3 it was.
I put Meister Rs, a Gruppe M and a Toyo catback on but ultimately it was a boring car. It wasn't as raw as the DC2 and it was far too grown up.
I hated it.
I then decided that a silly car was required to make up for the months of dull ownership with the EP3. Obviously it was going to be a Honda, I couldn't get enought of the 'TEC! So I started trawling for an s2000.
I found one close by and ended up doing a straight swap for this :
Only a month into the ownership in ended up having to install a replacement gearbox and new clutch which turned out to have flaked in to pieces, resulting in a horrible juddering when pulling away. Probably shouldn't have bought it from someone who drifted it round the roundabout when we were on the test drive, but I loved it.
I also slapped on some Meister Rs (obviously) and ended up picking up a nice Ti Amuse R dual exit exhaust.

It was awesome fun (still is in fact, I've still got it) but I'd always wanted a white S2K and with a little research I decided that plastifipping was the way to go. So it went matte white and I got my private plate put on.
I kept finding that it was hideously impractical, since I kiteboard and I can only just fit my gear in. I also couldn't fit my bike in anywhere or have more than one friend come along either. So I bought a BMW 320d Touring. That got sold pretty quickly, it was a horrible lump of a car and gave me back and bollock ache on long jouneys.
Now to where you guys come in:
I always knew that the S2K was going to be kept for around a year and it wasn't really a car that I wanted to be taking out in the winter and risk smashing up so it was time to start looking and saving for the replacement toy - the EK9
I had casually been looking for a while at them and after owning a white car, I decided that I definitely wouldn't have another one. Then Frodo's car came up.
It was pretty mint out the outside and I booked a train from Norfolk to Edinburgh to view it.
It was in very nice condition and apart from a few rattles and squeeks (some of which have turned out to be sinister) it was exactly what I was after.
I left at 6.30am on Saturday morning and finally got back at 4.30am on Sunday after a brief kip on the way home. This was the result
I knew that the knocking from the back was probably the rear ARB drop links so I ordered a new set and asked my local garage to intall them. I could feel a little judder from the steering wheel when changing gear which I thought could possibly be the rear engine mount. It was.
The garage also informed that all the followin needed to replaced:
Front drop links
Rear drop links
Side Gearbox Mount
Rear Engine Mount
Not the best of starts, but otherwise its a clean base and I'm looking forward to then next few years of ownership.
So yeah... I like Hondas I like Type Rs, hope to see a few of you at South Mimms in a couple of weeks time. I could be in either the S2K which will be back in orange or the EK9, so come say Hi.

and I didn't think that I'd end up using a different wheel, although after realising how much the standard one is compared to my S2K wheel I'm reconsidering a suede OMP wheel after the MOT has been done.
