As i had my 9 for a fiew weeks and im starting to get worried about it being stolen as recently in my area a civic was stolen ( was found but with the b16a missing:nerv:) so i thought alarm is a must , what way should i go about it should buy an alarm and get it installed by someone or just buy it with the fitting service which can be bit pricey ( found one for 370 )

and help would be much appreciated thanks :nice:

Yeah mate definately get an alarm sorted. I think the best way to go about it it is to buy it and get it fitted by the same guy. Have a look out for places near you that will do that sort of thing. Price wise it can vary. If you have a lot of money to spend then you can spend a small fortune on a clifford alarm or something similar. But i think spending around the £250 - £300 mark will get you a great alarm. category 1 thatched alarm and immobiliser is a must :nice: I recently had an alarm fitted to my 9 and its been great so far. It's a sigma s30 cat 1 alarm. doesn't have all the tricks of the more expensive ones but doe the job very well :nice:

Hope that helps

makesure the insurance company you are with support the alarm you are going to buy, you then have to makesure that the alarm is fitted by a proper installer that is willing to write you a letter to say they fitted the alarm as your insurance will want proof of this and proof of the alarm installed.

i had a right ballache with this on my trackcar, they insisted on proof on my cat1 immobiliser that was fitted by a couple owners previous to me of the car, i got a quote for £250 from someone saying they will check the immobiliser out for me, but would need to remove the dash etc to check the wiring!

such a piss take, and in the end my premium wasnt even reduced!

hmm sorry to hear that , i never thoguht my insurence would go down but i supose its a plus , i think i rather pay bit more and get it done properly that have someone do it and have no warranty

A qualified person is a must you need the certificate that they issue for insurance proof. Some companies will fit the alarm at your house workplace so worth an ask. I've got a lazer line cat 1 does the job :)
