EJ9
I'm new to the car scene and know basically bugger all. Iv been progressively learning how to do basic things on my EJ9 over the last year and want to begin modifying it. I have read that suspension is a good place to start when it comes to mods. I use my car as my daily and have never used it for track, I do plan in the future to do some track with the car but a comfortable drive with good handling is where I would like to start. The roads where I live are rubbish so I need something that can handle bad roads, preferably under £1000, Stock heigh and good handling with maybe the ability to use them on track in the future. I have read that coilovers are a really bad choice with bad roads. I understand this question has probably been asked 1000 times and I have spent the last several hours on google and going through this form however I haven't found anything that really suits. All help is appreciated cheers.

Edit:
I'm not looking to lower the car as I like the stock ride height. If people could recommend specific products that would be much appreciated.

stay away from coilovers with bad roads. Standard dampers and lowering springs will be fine or upgraded dampers with adjustable damping and lowering springs for occasional track ( koni, apex, etc... ). Coilovers are best for track but hard to have the best of both worlds

id also add a ek9 front strut brace, thicker roll bars ( either ek4 or ek9 ) and a ek9 subframe if you want to go all out

Alright, cheers noted I will add all to the list of things to do. Any brands or specific dampers and lowering spring you could recommend?
Not really looking for the best of both worlds as I don't see myself track a lot. Just something that would hold up against a few track days. But most important if for daily to be comfortable.

Eibach springs are meant to be good stuff. IF you do go for coilovers then meisterR are a great choice, just run them on soft setting. Though if your roads really are shot and terrible, like an off road track, then it'll shake your car around lol

Think country roads cross with crap city roads and lots of speed humps so if coilovers don't like them then they are out the question.

Are these any decent? https://h-tune.co.uk/eibach-pro-kit-lowering-springs-honda-civic-ek-96-00/ are they a drastic change from stock height? sorry about a lot of questions just trying to understand things.
The pro kit I hear are decent, I think the sportline are slightly more popular because they give a bit bigger drop. IF I remember correctly! There's also H&R spring kits too. Both brands decent really. I've no personal experience as I went coilovers for my roads but just personal research long ago. They don't give a HUGE drop, but I think they drop it a couple inches so the arch is just above the tyre. Best bet is check Google images. No worries!

Tein do some great coilovers! my brother used Super Street (old model) on his EK long ago, and they were brilliant. Lasted for years too. I'd say Teins are not as popular as the typical BC etc, not sure why really maybe harder to find but Tein have been around for years. Strut & spring combo, I've no experience with sorry man, only know what I've read online really. Stock EK9 shocks with eibach springs for an example I hear are good

I've heard good thing about the Tein street advance, not sure about flex z. I'd check out google and youtube for a couple reviews. Make sure it's definitely coilovers you want and are able to spend the amount. If you plan on a fast road/track setup then for sure. Just don't want you to find they're an overkill that's all. Can never do too much research!

I'm not set on coilovers because the roads are crap. Just taking a look at them thats all. My only concern with lowering springs is the car being too low a lot of speed bumps where I live. I have not been to track once but in the future its a possibility that I will. I was looking at reviews and youtube vids for hours on Tein but a lot of them are just too vague.

Depends on your definition of crap roads to be honest. Some coilovers are better at fast road use than track coilovers for example. I had a Clio 200 a couple years ago and people raved about the Bilstein B14 coilovers on road but said they were too soft for track.

Not all coilovers are the same is the takeaway from this, so i'd do some research into what coilovers are like.

With lowering springs they roughly give a set height that it'll drop, so if you find some springs measure the drop against your car to see where it'll roughly sit. I think from memory, the eibach springs give a nice drop without being slammed! good thing with coilovers you can adjust ride height. EK9 shocks with lowering springs I've read are a great basic setup. You could start with that before spending hundreds on coilovers. Then look into anti roll bar, braces etc

I have been doing a decent amount of research into Tein coilovers as I have read some of them are very good for dailys.

yeah that's an appealing feature to me about coilovers is they do allow height adjustability whereas lowering springs is a set drop. I like the ability to customize when it comes to coilovers. Lowering springs if I was to go for them I would upgrade dampers instead of throwing new springs on stock dampers. However, I have no idea what are good combos even after a good amount of research as people just refer to the companies instead of specific products on forums.

From my experience, I run bc coilovers in my ek and my fn2.
The ek setup is more of the aggressive type whereas the fn is the middle set.
The ek I have dailied and been fine however the fn is nice for everyday but stiff for when I do give it some on back roads

Any specific model of BC coilover?? and how does it hold up on pretty crap roads?
