Benefits of a 4.78 + Final Drive

I changed my final drive from 4.40 to 4.78, i remember that rvm mention in one thread that it makes a big difference in this cars.

Well i tested my car today, the car definitely accelerates faster, also sometimes when i shifted from second to third, i miss the vtec range, now this is not happening.

So for all of you people who are curious about installing a 4.78 final drive do it, but keep in mind this:

The B16B has a 4.4 final drive ratio. A higher ratio, like a 4.78 98 Spec intergra type-R, will lower top speeds but makes acceleration faster.

I was able to drive a EK9 with a 4.9 final drive, the acceleration was awesome, but the top speed was dissapointing. At the track, on the straight aways all the cars passed my friend's car, (including me hehehe). The corner exits he was way faster tham me...

I think the 4.78 final drive, its ok for the EK9 B16B engine

i would really look into increasing rpm capability with 4.7 or 4.9 final drives, get some good cams/springs/retainers tune it and rev to 9600rpm. that will help out with the top speed issue.

will the final drive out of an itr 98+ fit a vti (b16a2 gear box)/ sir i know it fits b16b.

except the final drive i think you`ll need counter shaft and 1st gear from ITR 98+

for b16a i think will not fit without mods in the final drive the holes for the screws are bit diferent
i am talking about OEM ,you can install an aftermarket without any problems.
