Been offered 6 different Turbo engines what you think?

i did a y7 earlier this year with same specs except and made great power i would focus on a nice size turbo to help keep the power climbing and go with the boost by gear option on the s300

D16y8 has the strongest oem sleeves out of all d16xx engines, pick that or go b-series, make sure u get the shortest geared d-series gearbox also or it will feel sluggish.

don't bother going for anthing under a 1600cc motor. I've built numerous d16z6 turbo setups over the years. They've all been stock motors, ranging from 38k mileafe to 130k mileage and all have lasted perfectly.

The stock d16z6 blocks are amazing with boost. The oem cam is good too up to 450-500bhp usually. The main issue d blocks have is that the heads are more prone to lifting than a b series motor. So people usually tend to run upto 11 psi with stock headstuds and retain reliability and keep it safe (with a small to medium sized turbo and streetable setup). I personally think that's a bit expensive for a d series motor. I've always seen built d series motors on sale for no more than 500 pounds (I sold my unused one for £400 only with all new and uprated parts such as vitara pistons, eagle rods, king bearings, ARP etc!)

Just thought I'd chime in give you a few pointers :)

I think its waste of time with d series turbo's well thats my opinion, you wanna go turbo do it the proper way b16 or defo b18

If you have no personal experience on the matter of turbo'ing the D, I highly suggest you test drive a properly sorted out example. They are hardly a waste of time when for the same amount of money spent, they can be faster and, more fun than mildly tuned Bs

x2, there great fun to drive. I fitted a Greddy turbo kit on a stock d16zc(non vtec) for a customer and it's making 205bhp with 190ftlb's torque! Try get that torque from a b series NA! Granted the power band isn't massive but you just keep feeding it gears and let the torque do it's work:D

I read what you wrote which is why I suggested you give a properly sorted D-Turbo setup a try. They are as Vtec6000 pointed out below, great fun to drive.

We've had a guy do a turbo D16Z6 and it was much the same story - but he used bits and pieces from a defunct Apex'i kit and with a solid tune he turned around the same figures and was laying waste to a lot of well tuned (albeit mild I/H/E) B18Cs.

:p
