Right ....
Starting this project soon and will post a thread as me and the Mrs split up i dont need this Tank's (MB6) endless boot anymore and seeing my EJ9 in such a way made me want to bring it back from the dead.
So I am soon buying back my EJ9 which after a year with a different owner it has seen better days. I plan to sort eveything out do a brake swap etc and then take the engine out of my 1.8 VTi (MB6) and drop it into the shell when ready.
I have searched the internet for weeks now with no real answer to my questions just suggestions etc nothing that makes me feel confident im doing the right thing.
My questions are about the electrics which I am no expert on but will try and turn my hand to anything.
So if anyone could shed some light from there own experience or post some links that might help me I would greatly appriciate it.
I plan to add a Skunk2 inlet manifold as from what I have seen this makes the swap easier. Also I will be adding a new exhuast, manifold back. Going to keep the standard cams etc for the moment untill I can afford a S300.
Questions ......
1. What loom to use ?
I have gathered from searching there are 2 common ways of doing it. Firstly to use a loom from a EK4 1.6 VTI and secondly to use the MB6 loom. Now my problem is not getting either of these but what to do with them to make them useable in my conversion. From what i can tell you need to modify them but how is were I seem to come up blank.
2. What ECU to use ?
I have seen so many different makes and modles suggested i am now all in a muddle and cant for sure pick one. Bearing in mind i want it to be as easy as possible e.g Plug and play or same again with a conversion harness. As i will be doing the conversion on the weekend and will need the car on the Monday so dont want to spend hours tinkering with an ECU.
Any help on these matters would be great as I am so confused about these 2 areas.
Thanks in advance
Ben
