The Civic type R houses a 1.6 liter DOHC VTEC B16B power plant engine that generates 185HP (Horse Power) at 8200rpm. The powerful B16B engine features a new valve system allowing superior engine speeds, reducing engine friction, better breathing, and increased compression ratio. Main features of handling include an increased body rigidity, reduced weight, hard tuned suspension, torque-sensitive helical LSD.

wow...clean bay. actually in borneo here hardly get type r half cut o even the engine. what i can observed from friends' eg8 with B18c, EK4 with B18C, EK4 (4 doors) with B16B ....these engines performance are more enough for street in town. this black ek3 IS mine. what i got only mugen muffler, mugen wheels, ek9 door panel, momo 193... guess what B series half cut engine in malaysia cost bout RM 13,000 (16B) RM 15,000 above (B18c)..

Hey all i just got an ek9 an new to this site. The car came with a mugen exhaust 4 - 2 - 1 and the b box. Can n e one tell me what kind of gain in hp i should b getting? Also so i'v looked at getting a mugen air filter an box to but there v pricey, dose n e one no if its worth getting one an what gain i'd get from it.
Thanx Ashton

Yes you can, you should get a 10 8 compression, I did this mod when I had a B16A. :nice:

no way, compression will be A LOT higher, more like ~11.8 i'll double check when i get home :)

Anyone with a part number? Well guys also have a B18B block was thinking of going turbo LS/Vtec anyone wanna share some light N/A or TURBO? well here in South Africa its cheaper to build turbo car than N/A when you driving a tec parts here are very limited everything has to be bougth from agents and performance stuff there is only 2 people I know of that imports Honda stuff. Oh yes lets not forget there is a guy here running mid 9's 1/4mile in his turbo tec 0.1 sec slower than the quickest front wheel drive turbo only in South Africa. the TEC is a full car no interior and the quickest is a super BOSS full race car I mean everything is cut had the car in a local mag showing the owner lifting the car up by the wheelie bars YOU GO FIGURE

:thanks:

recently, just changed my engine with new head code pr3-1 year of head 92, and at top left was marked with B16b stamp..is it B16b head?need some advise..

hey there guy think it would be CTR head if it is stamped b16b. Anyone one with ideas on what piston i can use to get the best possible CR OEM pistons and part numbers will help if you can get them too

Thanks guys us guys in South Africa are behind with these things for honda

I really didn't understand your question, you want civic type r oem piston part numbers right? :nice:

Yes that is correct or if ITR which ever give better CR

Thank You

Can you please tell us what motor you have and the mods ?

I you have a B18C and you install civic type r pistons, your compression will be raised, to the point that you'll have to use high octane petrol :nice:

hey there thank you for the reply i have a B16A motor. But want to put pistons in a B18B block with B16A head, CTR cams, branch and 57mm exhaust. Looking for CR anywhere between 11.5 and 12and don't want to use to many parts that are not OEM trying for a good powered honda built engine doesn't have to be the quickest thing around just a GOLF killer. It is just the 2.0l 16v golf 1 full engine work done with side drafts that is working me badly.Going to use the car everyday.
