B16B Engine Information

hey there thank you for the reply i have a B16A motor. But want to put pistons in a B18B block with B16A head, CTR cams, branch and 57mm exhaust. Looking for CR anywhere between 11.5 and 12and don't want to use to many parts that are not OEM trying for a good powered honda built engine doesn't have to be the quickest thing around just a GOLF killer. It is just the 2.0l 16v golf 1 full engine work done with side drafts that is working me badly.Going to use the car everyday.

So you want a reliable engine.

The oem B16B pistons are 81 mm in size, in a B16A you'll get 11.1 compression with this setup (could be a little less or more). I had that setup in a first generation B16A with skunk 2 stage 1 camshafts, and skunk2 valvetrain, it was a great setup, as the car was my daily drive also.

The standard size (81mm) ek9 piston honda part number is:

13010-PCT-000

You can also get the 81.25 mm piston version, but you should ask your tuner if he is able to install this pistons in a B16A block without any problems.

Here is a video of my old B16A civic with ek9 civic type r pistons, and skunk2 stage 1 camshafts:

YouTube - 1992 Honda Civic 9000 RPM on board.

Hope this helps..

Thank you for your help couldn't open the vid. I have mailed a Friend at honda SA to see if he can get the pistons in 81.25mm for me. the cams you used were stage 1's here the skunk stage 1, 2 and 3 are around the same price and we also get toda, buddy club and crower and they all relatively in the same price range. So if I'm going to buy the rev kit what cam you think will make the best power. I know I'm being a pain with all these questions but know here in SA have certain info ther are sum quick vtec's hear but all are ls/vtec and no one gives you any help they much rather you fail.

Depends for what you want your car, for drag racing, or circuit racing ?

For drag racing I'll go with skunk 2 stage 2, with 11.1 compression at least, and a good ecu, this setup will give you good whp numbers, ideal for drag racing.

Now if you want this car for circuit racing, I'll go for the toda spec b ones, because they give you a little less hp, but better torque.

I recommend you to check this link:

this can help you decide which camshafts will work better for your setup :nice:

Feel free to ask, I'm happy to help you

You realise this is a Honda forum don't you mate?

I can't imagine a little Honda 4 pot having the torque to even move an old dodge.. Well, maybe very slowly
