Anyone on here ever had any issues with a failing water pump?

As far as I am aware this is pretty uncommon for the b series cars . I ask as mine has gone on my eg6 sir so now having one fitted along with the timing etc after my temp guage rocketed as I was heading for work today so I quickly pulled over and turned the car off . Popped the bonnet and steam coming from the right side of my bay where there are no coolant pipes only the water pump and alternator . So thoughts are the pump is goosed and steam is from the leakage on the block . Anyone had similar issues ?

Cheers

They go out from time to time. They should be changed on every timing belt replacement for safe measure.

I just had a new one fitted at Honda with a cambelt. They advised not changing it but when they took it off it wasn't in great shape. Avoids paying the labour charge twice
