So I've been planning on getting a 2000 Civic Type R for the last 6 months or so. So I rang my insurance compant, AXA, to see how much extra I would have to pay. They quoted me an extra €700 or so.

So I'm picking up the car on Tuesday, so I rang them again today just to change it over to be absolutely shocked by a response of "we can't insure you on that car...".

I was like "Excuse me?", I just put a €2000 deposit on the car and organised finace for it.

I explained that I had been given a quote before on the car, the person on the phone said "No that wasnt a Type R, that was an SR 1.6 VTec.", a quote that I did not ask for.

So basically they are saying they won't insure me on this car after an employee of their's quoted me no problem on the car.

What do I do? It's not my fault the guy quoted me wrongly, I specifically asked for insurance on the Type R!

HELP

Shop around and get a better quote from another insurer?

Its hard to get a quote straight up for a Type R.

I also don't want to lose my last 9 months of NCB.

.... i think the only thing you can do mate to keep the ncb is to mantain the remainding 3 months of payment and hold out to insure the ek9 with another insurer.

Why dont you buy the EK9 and keep it stored away for 3 months until you have your year no claims, then sell ur other car and get a new insurance company for the EK9.

I've already been waiting about 3months to get this car and it killed me :nono:

But yeah, I don't see what other choice I have.

Have you got the quote number from when you got it originally Ben? BTW AFAIK in Ireland you get your NCB 10 months into your policy;)

you should be gettin a quote anyways at 20,i mean its a civic not a ferarri:nono:
when i was your age i was insured on a car with near double the power of the ek9 no problems, just a matter of ringing all the companies and getting the best quote:nice:

try topquote, theres an excess on their quotes but i guarentee you they'l insure you

im just gone 23 and mine is just over 1k(ill check exact figure)

I'm going to sort things out tomorrow, this bank holiday is slowing everything down :(
