Need advise on where to go to get my b18 eg6 sir insured.

No matter what country you are in declaring all performance/body upgrades is the law to protect other road user and yourself. There is a reason why your insurance would be high. If you crash you don't have a claim and could get in trouble by the police/garada.

Stay legal man.

you will more than likely have to get an engineers report on the conversion by a garage to show the insurance company it was done right and is safe etc, friend of mine put a 2.0 redtop vauxhaull engine into a 1.4 corsa shell and once they got the engineers report off him they insured him no problem

ive insured a b20 eg with quinn before, just told them the engine blew in my car and the b20 was the cheapest replacement,i had to get an engineers report, i know a garage who can sort that for you!

try greenlight buddy ,they are for performance cars only. not to sure about if they insure to the south.

I filled out an engineers report, that i got off quin direct's website (now liberty), got it stamped by a maim dealer garage and sent it in think my insurance went up by about €200. That was going from ek3 1.5 to a b16b with all running gear to match.

When I enquired I worded it in a way which made it seem like my engine needed to be replaced and this is the engine code of the new one im after buying I played dumb with the power upgrade dont know if that hepled with the price or not. I never changed the log book but was planning on doing that too but sold the car before I got around to it.

I'm in the north jayk

John I think b20s are cheap to insure anyway as a b20 engine is only 140 bhp standard, I think it goes by what car the engine came from so the b18c won't be so handy insured, plus insurance is cheaper in the south.

Thanks for the recommendation :D

We definately insure Northern Ireland and can happily cover an engine conversion.

In order to get a quote the OP can drop me a PM with your contact number or complete the details on our website Greenlight Insurance

Green light sorted me with a quote for my Jordan with b18 and was very reasonable...

I currently have a b18c type r engine in my ek9 & it's insured through Liberty if that's any use to you.
Sorry to high jack your thread but do Greenlight insurance over insurance in the Republic/ South ?

Sorry im afraid we dont do Republic at the moment. Its shame as my family are actually from Southern Ireland (although i live in england)

We have been doing N.I for a number of years now so hopefully soon we will move into being able to cover Republic.

Best Regards
