Ally's Nine (no longer CW)

cheers guys

Starting to take shape nicely! :nice:

You gonna be leaving the interior out and having it as a bit of a track shlaag?

Do like that japfest shot.

Thanks dude. The interior is actually back in, since it was required haha! need to remove it again next weekend. Yeah, I'm gonna try and take it to Knockhill a bit more hopefully over this summer :D It's my weekend daily :)

seeing as I rolled the arches with a large hammer 3.5 years ago, the arches have done pretty good to now

Looks ****, just give up :)

I will fight you

:/ would have expected it to be done properly. Oh well getting chopped out anyway

Those seats are so nice!

Absolutely love your seats!

Cheers! Highlight of the motor haha

:) Seats are amazing man!

Cheers! Looking forward to the arrival of goods! Won't be fitted until new mod is ready ;)

arch roller wouldn't work with the lack of suspension travel, couldn't fit the roller into the arch

when i did them it was painted up on the inside and the lips properly sealed - even when I sold the shell there was only a tiny bubble showing which could have been mended without cutting the arches out. probably with the shell been sat so long neglected since

I had to drop the suspension out and use a jack to do mine but it was a total bitch.

Hmm thought I'd give a small update on this.. 9 is alive-ish atm. Recently renewed insurance and tax. Booked in with Automek last month for the following bits fitted:

- spoon engine mounts.
- spoon change rod
- ek9 close ratio'd box

2 out of 3 had some slight hic ups. Spoon rod doesn't 100% for directly with my mfactory shifter so had to go back to them to see how to go around it, hopefully I can get that sorted next time round.

Mounts are perfect and sends cockpit rocking.

Gearbox isn't so great though.. Bearings are gone and it's loud as hell, so currently limited to 30mph or slower haha!

All booked in for next week! Hopefully everything will be sorted by then!

Intresting updates man, whats the difference between the spoon linkages and oem? Lighter and shorter throw? Also you using te car daily with the short box? Brave man if so haha

Still need to get pics

Very nice car! The seats are defo the highlight. Hows the spoon mounts compared to oem?

Thanks! The Spoon mounts also have inserts. I haven't given it full throttle yet, but you can feel the difference on start up. Cockpit has a lovely vibration and makes the car feel more aggressive. I have a video from the engine bay with OEM mounts, gonna get a video made of it with the new mounts to compare the difference.

Thanks :) suppose to be more smoother? Not shorter as it's exactly the same length as OEM. My linkages weren't OEM EK9 ones so it's always not been the best, mind you I had it built from almost bare shell. The first gear is longer, 2 3 and 4 are shorter. FD is still 4.4 so it's not so bad for daily. Can feel the Spoon LSD on full lock though, very aggressive.

@Ellis just went through my phone for the text from a friend I got the box from:
S4C EK9 gearbox 4.4FD
- Mfactory Long 1st
- ATS 3/4/5 Gearset
- Spoon 1.5 LSD

so my understanding of the box was pretty off haha!

So aye. Got the car back last week and had the FD replaced as it was pretty ******, and that took out most of the bearings along with it, or something. So the 4.4 was taken out my OEM box and replaced that along with new bearings and it is now essentially new. And since it's now built up properly by Andrew at Automek, I now know I can look forward to get behind the wheel - need to get a vid up.

The new Sump supplied by @6TWO1 :)

Now, just waiting for winter to end as it's only just started. Going to purchase up a decent car cover and replace my Tesco one and tuck it away. With mods, I don't know what else I wanna do with it as I'm quite happy with it in general. It's probably the wee things I might fix like one out of the two mirrors will electrically fold, window wipers have a mind of its own and window regulators are crap too. Probably look into detailing since it's looking **** haha
