Hi guys. I'm looking to go buy a dc5 on Monday. It looks really straight, only been in the country 3 years and the same guy still owns it. Only on 64k! He's said the top mounts are abit lose and tend to knock. How can I check that this is just the top mounts and not a problem with say the whole suspension arm, track rod end etc? I've had loose top mounts before and know how they sound. But is there anything simple I can do to check? Also anything else I should look out for? Any help would be much appreciated!

Drive it. A top mount usually won't effect how it behaves on the road but a major suspension fault usually will.

I have a dc5, can't comment on the top mount as mine doesn't have this problem, but if a track rod end/top mount is all that's required I wouldn't worry to much. You'll no by driving it if there's something more to it.
Main checks are the same as the older Hondas, check rear arches, boot floor, bottom of the boot seal, wether it's ever had paint etc check seats for excess wear if cars genuine low mileage it should reflect this and obv drive it and make sure there's no blue reek or scum below oil cap apart from that that's really it.
