Am currently selling my ek9 to raise some cash after recently buying my first home. Have been looking at maybe an ep3 but they just don't do it for me.
It seems an accord type r can be picked up for a good price these days but I don't know too much about these.
Economy is important as I am currently doing 250 miles a week to work and back and its costing me £50 - £60 in the 9. Am I to expect a similar return from an ATR?

It costs me around £50-60 to do 182 miles in my Euro R using Vpower.

I think the 9 is more economical than every other type r. good luck with your first home.

Thanks.
It seems I may have to look at alternatives to anything with a Type R badge if I wanna save money.

Is that good or bad, i spend €50-55 to fill the ek4 and i get 450-470kms from that which i think is good

I guess for the type of car the ek9 is, it is infact very economical but mine has 140k miles on the clock and it really doesn't seem right to be putting nearly 300 miles a week on it anymore. So its breaking my heart but its got to go. Ill probably end up getting a shitty diesel:(

If u want economy/MPG, don't go for the ATR, I am tempted by these too but what puts me off is the fuel consumption, always hear about this from other owners/past owners,

But see past that, its an absolutely awesome car!

I owned one for 4 years and I can tell you that the most I ever got out of a full tank of V-Power was 360 miles - £77 to fill from empty if I remember correctly.

With my 7th generation K24 Accord Type S I get the exact same mileage.

Fantastic car though, would love one as a third car :nice:

Yes certainly seems like a hell of a lot of car for the money but economy is becoming more of a priority for me.

EK4/EG6 maybe if you still want something fun to drive?

If I don't floor it too often I usually get 550km or more with my EK4, that's about 100km more than my previous EJ9 Civics :))
It does have ECtune and a gutted interior to save weight, probably the main reasons why it's so fuel efficient.

Mine does 27mpg on the Isle of Wight, which is all country roads and town driving, lots of hills etc.

On the motorway the other week, cruising at 80mph with the AC all the way, she averaged 30mpg.

FWIW, saying "I got X amount of miles to £Y" or "I get X miles out of a tank" doesn't work all that well. ;)

Driven normally, they are no more thirsty than a regular 2.0 petrol saloon car.

Indeed! This is why in my whereabouts we use to make the calculations in 100km after having some refills in the same gas station. Mine (ej9 d14 with 1stage tune) in the open roads and going up to 110km, consumes only 5.5lt very easily even with a/c on. In city conditions this number gets 1,5lt up usually. In racing conditions (track days etc.) it doesn't get more than 9lt. I think it is more fuel efficient than stock since I have light wheels, shorter gearbox( ideal since it works in its torque) plus some other things that make it leaner. However during the winter and while waiting to get warm it consumes a lot.
What is the price of fuel in your countries? In Crete (Greece) it is 1.80e/lt

These cars are the real deal. You won't be disappointed performance wise. The refinement is spot-on and they cruise very well on the motorway. Fuel economy isn't the best though.

I keep getting thoughts about selling mine.

Then I take it out for a drive. Thoughts gone. :D

Superb machine. Heavy compared to an EK certainly, but superb none the less. :)

I did own a Ek9 and replaced it with Cl7 Euro R . Similar on petrol I think. And with the 6th gear better on motorway imoa !

I Too bought a house and ended up changing. If you want to stick with Honda how about a FN shape 3 or 5 door. I went from a Accord type S K24 to the 1.8 (All be it a lot slower) but the difference in running costs are obvious, even tax is over £100 cheaper. I get 38 mpg town driving, or a long run I'll see 45+mpg, the diesel is a lot better but have read issues with clutch and other little problems. It's not the nicest looking of cars but it's just a work horse that I can run into the ground and not give a crap about.
