Are these much of an upgrade from standard ek9 calipers?whats required to fit them?

Better heat dissipation when coupled with atr 300mm discs. Which will bolt straight onto your 9. Only disadvantage is the weight over 282 single pots.

What about wheel fitment? Can I run standard Ek9 wheels or will I have to run 16"

If im not mistaken u have to run 16's or spacers for OEM ek9 wheels to fit but i stand to be corrected.
 
You will need 16" wheels at least.

My 282 legend calipers fitted like 2-3mm from inner side ok OEM EK9 wheels. No chance to fit 300mm in them for me.
 
I run these with 16s no problem, haven't tried my oem ek9 wheels tbh.
 
No. You can normally install ATR calipers with ek9 brakets and stay 282mm.

Just be carefull with disc thickness.
