As anybody who is interested in Formula 1 knows, in 2014 there some big changes occuring, one of the biggest one's would be naturally the 1.6L Turbo charged V6 engines that are taking over from the N/A V8 engines.

With this people are pretty uneasy about this change as a lot of people enjoy the sound of a high revving N/A formula engine, with this in mind I am using this to post video's of each manufactured 2014 V6 engine (2 have been released at the present moment, both you can listen to below)

Any discussion on this can obviously be posted within your post. Thanks.

Sound strange and a bit gutless compared to current engines. Can't beet a V10 F1 engine :0

i find the engineering extremely interesting but the racing not so much lol

its a pity they are so secretive into their technology as i could read about it all day

I find f1 good to watch and love the engineering aspect but these engines do sound lame. I take it these are computer generated sounds so it will surely sound better than that.

No these are recorded from the engine test facilities using a mic, I'd assume they would probably change the gearing slightly as I would imagine these engines are still work in progress, but other than that these are 100% engine sound.

Mercedes just gave the graphical video for sound reference I think.

Need to remeber that the different teams will have different exhuasts. I know the Catherham last year sounded so different to the rest of the field, even the teams running the same engines.

I find f1 boring, I shouldn't. But I do.

Me too, since redbull is winning everything, lol..

Vettel is almost a champion in the middle of the season.. I remember when the championships were decided in the last race...

That's true, when it passed the main straight at Spa it was deafening compared to the other cars.

If they are the actual engine sounds i can imagine what the reaction will be from the fans.

there was hope that with the new turbo engine they would be spitting napalm out the back on over run and downshifts but there chasing fuel efficiency so im guessing they will blow out bubbles and daisy chains instead

There is def some really boring races when the results are just decided by tyre strategy.

It is a good excuse for the wife to keep kids away/quiet for me. Have a ice cold beer, munchies and maybe afternoon knap lol

There also introducing penalty points for driving offences in 2014, once a driver gets 12 points he will be banned for one race and have 5 points deducted from his championship when he returns. The amount of points they receive depends on the serverity of the offence.

I've also read that the engine rev limit has been reduced from 18000rpm to 15000rpm. The engines are expected to weigh 80% more that the outgoing engines..

Also Honda have chosen to spend a year out to see how things go.

Yep. Car's weigh more and produce less power overall, however the ERS-K unit gives 161bhp for 30 seconds per lap compared with 80bhp every 6 seconds per lap in 2013. Also I believe the fuel tanks are smaller going from carrying 150kg to 100kg, so that's a 50kg weight difference.

I still think it's going to be a slippery slope downwards for Formula 1, the environmental rules are pretty much killing what most people enjoyed about F1. Apart from the engineering aspect of things.

Both of them sound utter shite! Will be interesting to see what they are like when watching the races next year.

Nothing beats the noise of the 3.0 V10, they should be brought back!

...benefit being that the rule changes have and will tempt manufacturers back into the sport as the technical regulations reflect more relevant development areas for the road car divisions.

It's a shame that where we are today, as I hate the concept too. But at least Honda are coming back

F1 is getting a tad boring. For me, it seems that there needs to be a race what you built series; FZero, Zero rules.
