ITBs + new map..aprox 280 FHP

:)

Safe for over 10000rpm? :blabla:

Look at the facts!! All that effort, parts, tuning and cost and still only 256FHP. You could get those results from a K20 with bolt on's and a mild set of cams. And still have decent useable ecconomy and almost factory reliability.

I would love to see how long that engine lasts at 10000rpm.

I don't realy think turbo's compare. A well setup turbo Vtec will eat almost any N/A Vtec.

I`ve just C/P example from my m8`s build as you wanted to se 280 FHP (with ITBs and map) spec :)
so far engine is running for 100000 km with no problems...

And I agree with you regardnig N/A power and K20, since I like it more than B20, too

I'd go further to say ANY engine... seriously..

some of the B18's in the states running 700+ Whp would kill anything. big block SC V8, straight 6 twin turbo. you name it the vtec turbo's in the U.S.A are amazing and beat any car going.... its not really an argument though as i'm sure any engine with the right turbo and right amount of ££££££ can beat any other engine ... :blabla:

As i have said before the thrill of trying to get 270Whp from a B16/B18/B20 N/A is something that far out weighs forged internals and a big turbo. lets face it a 380+ Whp turbo B18 is something of the norm now when it comes to Vtec turbo's in the U.K .... Hence the reason i'm all for people trying to tune the S*** out of a B series. its just something special lol :win:

I've said it in the past, its not about who's got the fastest car its about how deep your pockets are.

Personally I couldn't care how fast the next persons car is I build a car for me and how I like it.

If you prefer K and can afford it go for it, If you prefer B then lives easier but still expensive.

If its straight line speed and an N/A build you want K is better theres nothing else can be said about that. As for track performance i'm not sure but a high comp B shouldnt be looked down on cos it may just surprise you.

Thanks for the post!! I should have shared this video on here a while ago. While I love Bseries, I wanted to try something different. I have built sleeved B's and made massive power with them. I still like them, but I decided to sell my B18C5 swap to fund the K swap. I have friends here in the US at HybridRacing. They had great parts and have everything I needed to do the swap with. I did the swap and have loved every minute of it. Granted you could possibly build a B series to make the same or more power for same money or close to it, but it would be almost maxed out and not a "stock" motor anymore. I would drive this car anywhere and not worry about a thing.

when Alex is up my way soon, we will have to do a comparison just to see how much of a difference there really is...........

Forged hi comp B18C, 243bhp but with short box (130ish top speed)

K20 swap ek9 with bolt on mods and k-pro, 257bhp

:nerv:

All down to personal preference ultimately, I've been heavily involved in Hondas for over ten years and my own opinion is to stick with the B series, I've just seen way too many blown standard k20's, to the point that I personally wouldn't trust one enough to go to the bother of converting an EG,EK,DC2 etc. I've known a lot of guys with built ones that have been very good motors tho!
At the end of the day I think I just prefer the character of the B series engines but I'm pretty old school like that lol
Each to their own, horses for courses etc etc

Every time I way everything up together. I just can decide. B20s are so much easier to hide. And look much more at home in an EG, EK AND DC.

Personally I dont think it matters what power you put out, it matters how fun your engine is, and for me B series are more fun, but then thats just my opinion.
