the noise could be cause by the extra load on ur alternator from ur air con/ auxillarlys.realy just get rid of the air con its taking performance off the engine enyway. my ek4 does it when i operate the rear heated windscreen.

it its common after fitting a 4 branch manifold to hear ticking noises its the manifold because its thiner u can hear the sounds of the combustion process more easly,i would still advise u check it for eny loose brackets or bolts and leaks but it is generaly because they are a thiner metal...
