Hi guys,

I'm looking to purchase my first Civic EK9 or EK4 Jordan, but before i buy, i just want to know is it a high maintenance car, is it a car that needs a lot of money to maintain it and what are the common issues in these cars?

As i currently have another car to use for daily commute, this civic will probably just a weekend car or a car to drive on sunny days.

Thanks guys

Hi mate,
Any civic that I've owned needed very little. Honda built these cars to last! just keep it serviced regularly and it should be fine.
Look out for rust when buying one especially round the arches and sills.
hope this helps.

Hello, IMO if your buying ek civic the first year maintenance is the most expensive as it’s best to get them fully under sealed and full service including all belts etc for peace of mind but then after that just service and keep clean pretty much. Honda b series engine is bullet proof as long as it’s serviced and well kept.
If your going for a jordan and miles are around or above 100,000 then I’d look out for arches and sills to start with. Then I’d check the boot for rust too as the rear lights seals have a comman problem of leaking.
Hmmmm can’t really think of much more, the window regulators get very slow with age sometimes lol.

Just look for an example where the arches and sills are solid and take it from there. Wouldn’t be to worried about the window regulators as there not expensive at all! The Ek9 would obviously be the better choice as for less rust and it’s the real MVP after all :))

I see, thank you.

Does anyone know if the prices of ek9 or ek 4 prices going up or not? I've seen jordan currently going for £3k and some ek9 start from £7k onwards....

all collectible hondas are going up in price, some faster than others. My eg6 has at least tripled in price since 2008
