Hi,
This is my '98 EK4 that is currently running a B18c6 engine with stock P73 ECU. Also, it has a passwordJDM whale ***** intake and a Tegiwa exhaust manifold (Toda replica - 2.5 collector).
At the moment, I have the OEM EK4 cat and a 50 mm catback. I have already bought a Tanabe Medalion conceptG catback, and I plan to use this one along with a decat.
Is it safe to have this setup with the stock map? I will be running too lean? How bad will be? Is the ECU able to adjust the AFR appropriately? What would be the long term effects? How much I can run this setup without affecting the engine?

I know I need a remap to properly use that mods to get some power out of them, but even with a decent remap I do not expect to get more than 10 hp. All I want for now is to be sure that I keep my engine healthy. Most probably I will buy a P30 + S300, but till that moment..

The only way to really know if it's safe is to install a afr gauge or have a dyno run to check.

If your using a eu spec ecu then I would switch to a jdm ecu, it's a better map

The stock B18C6 ECU will work fine.

The engine runs closed loop when cruising so should adjust fuelling to maintain lambda 1 (14.7:1 AFR)

The stock UK map is a touch rich if anything- my old ITR had breathing mods & extra power was found on my remap by leaning out the fuelling a touch & tweaking the timing...7BHP peak but held it much better at the top & also ~15BHP gain in the mid range.

Very worthwhile to remap with your mods
