EK9 Power rack converted to manual the right way.

Dont suppose anybody can supply me with a part number from an EK9 P/S rack? The number thats printed on the rack itself? I have a local spares shop who can source me one but i need a ref number off the old rack unfortunately i do not own an eK9

good pics in here
now i see how it looks

maybe i do this too some day to test the feeling then

Its 53040-S04-J01. With P/S you cannot buy the hole rack. Its every single part for itself. The partnumber from the housing is 53608-S04-J62.
Hope this helps you out. But I dont think that you can read the partnumber on that parts.
good luck

Wow! Love this DIY very informative. I'm going to give this a try on my rack now!

Is the technique identical to doing this on an ITR rack? Maybe different size bolts but the same idea? Strip down and remove the fluid seal?

thanks

also surely the last part thats been removed takes up any play in the pinion??? surely the pinion can move upwards if this isn't there?

cheers

No. There's another bush/seal in the ends that holds it centre.

So would you do the same thing on a ek4 vtis rack

As I'm looking to go k swap and want to do the rack the right way

Any info would be great

I think it works the same on all racks TBH not just honda. I did this to an ITR rack for my EK4 and it worked a treat. Was more feel.

I followed every exact instruction of this write up but now I have a play in the steering rack when turning the steering wheel. does anyone know what could have caused the play?

It's likely that you need to add pre load or somethings not tight enough like a track rod end
